Show 8A Lakeside Review, Wednesday, August 26, 1987 Put Your Old Mower On The Trading Block Job Corps gives P r 2 service awards Two local people, Ruby Price and Jay Fisher, have been named recipients of the Job Corps Community Service Award at the Outreach, Screening and Placement Conference in Denver recently. Price of Layton was a member of the committee initially appointed to find a suitable location for the Clearfield Job Corps Cen- -. ter over 21 years ago and has been an ardent supporter of the center ever since. In February, Price was selected as national coordinator for Joint Action in Community Service n (JACS) for the Salt area. She is responsible for locating Job Corps graduates and dropouts, assisting and counseling them in getting jobs or retum- ing to Job Corps. According to Jack Roehm, JACS regional administrator, she is persistent in her attempts to locate them and dedicated and sincere in her efforts to assist CLEARFIELD . nominated for the award, said Fisher. You dont work for things like this. I work for the greater satisfaction of seeing youngsters turn their lives around. Fisher could not attend the conference in Denver, and will be presented with his award at the September meeting of the Community Relations Council. Jay Fisher has been associated with the Clearfield Job Corps for the past years. He is coordinator of the Vocational Training Outreach Program for Davis Spred wall County. Fisher said that after he found that Job Corps was a viable option for students who had filtered through the school system and were in danger of dropping out,, he started encouraging them to go to the center.
