Our officials in trying to white wash themselves, react to their mistakes as good news. The good news is we have lost $2.5 million on insurance; $800,000,000 in on rebonding efforts to give Chrysler Corporation a tax break at taxpayers expense. The good news is commissioners borrowed $54.7 million, spend $28.5 million for construction with no explanation to the public on what happened, to the difference of $36.2 million. The district now claims their broke. If the $54.7 million has vanished, this amounts to approximately $1560.00 per district family, (that is not good news). Lets throw in the towel. We could eliminate unnecessary additional costs, such as: district, Wasatch Front, contractor, investor, labor costs, insurance, water, sewer, O and M, refractory replacements, pollution controls, etc. Elimination of plant would give taxpayers back their landfill revenue. They then could better payoff their mandated $5 million yearly interest. Can you imagine our grandchildren saying thank you for polluted air and a payback ratio $9 million deficit for $1 million steam return. I can not, however Kenneth S. Reed Clearfield Police lose respect of Kaysville reader I wonder if another policeman would be willing to come to my aid if he feared reprisal from the offender and questioned the support of his chief and fellow officers. Lakeside Review editor: I believe a grave injustice has occurred in the city of Kaysville and I have been saddened that more letters to this effect have not been written. This summer an outstanding police officer was reprimanded and demoted for doing his job. His police record stands blemished and his chances for future law enforcement employment greatly diminished. He resigned from the force because his own faith in the judicial system of justice had been distorted if not destroyed. Kaysville lost not only a fine policeman but my respect. I have spoken with men who are involved with the city council, the mayor, the chief of police, etc.; their comments have been, well, theres a lot of good ol boys in city government and they stick up for each other. Werent they just afraid of a lawsuit? Is our city run by honorable men? Why does an officer, trying to maintain law and order, get a reprimand and a cut in pay? I no longer feel safe in Kaysville. Whenever I see a policeman Think about it Davis County. Have we set a dangerous precedent here? What message have we given to our youth who may try testing the law? I feel sorry for us all. His statements, It was on the premise of environmental preservation that the waste plant was built. That statement is as false as the $2 monthly increased tipping fee, Enocom study gave the landfill a clean bill of health long before the presentation of burn plant. The plant does not change landfill environment unless plant ash is toxic. Garbage has been buried at landfill or near for 50 years and will increase with Morgan and South Davis garbage. However, plant does have an impact on the air. It spews out dioxins and furans that have been tested 3 to 70 times greater than predicted sanitation tests. Natural gas decreases did not make the plant a white elephant. It was their misrepresented inflated gas revenues and inaccurate O and M costs to promote the plant. Their heads were in the sand and never faced reality. The warning flags are still there, if low gas prices creates plant deficits. They will go lower Attention Good Drivers...
