A brochure explaining some of the historical information regarding the area will be included with each ticket. Alexander Dawson and his wife, Elizabeth June Fowle Daw son, were among the early settlers to the Dawson Hollow region. They constructed a log home in the mid 1860s. He was an experienced mason and built a rock home later near the original home site. The rock home was used by the Dawson family until the 1920s. In the 1940s it was partially dismantled and totally torn down in the 1950s. Materials from the original rock house were used in the construction of the Jack and Effie Whitesides home where the dinner will be held. The Whitesides home is a modified version of the original rock home built by the Dawsons. Effie Whitesides is a granddaughter of Alexander Dawson. Dawson Hollow is also the site Lakeside Review, Wednesday, June 17, 1987 Siroi of one of Laytons first school ife houses. The remains of that building were recently unearthed by a team interested in archeology headed by Heritage Museum curator Kent Day. The small artifacts found at the dig are stored at the museum. The first LDS Sunday School in Layton was established in the Dawson Hollow area. A map guiding participants to the Whitesides home in Dawson Hollow will be given with each ticket. Tickets may be purchased at the museum. ' The Layton Heritage Museum is dependent on public support for all of its displays, storage facilities, and acquisitions. Those who cannot attend the dinner but wish to make a donation of any size may do so at the museum. COLCRS PERM SPECIAL 56.50 $1Q00 INCLUDES .
