Mrs. Gallegos, a teenager at that time and now a grandmother, smiled through tears of joy last month when, after many years of wondering, hoping, speculating and praying about her bothers and sisters, the GrifTin family was reunited. On Friday, June 27, the group met for a reunion dinner at an Ogden restaurant. On the table was a cake decorated to depict a jigsaw puzzle, bearing the words Now all the pieces fit. Although three family members were not in attendance, they are puzzle. A brother, Jerry, now deceased, was represented by his wife who is now remarried. He has been gone twenty years, we found out, said Mrs. Gallegos. Family members visited his grave in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park in Salt Lake City. To think he was so close all those years, she said. Another brother, Keith, who lives in California was unable to attend, but has been in touch with family members. The search for a sister Dianne has been long and difficult. Mrs. Gallegos and two other sisters Faye and Grace had been successful in locating Dianne just before the reunion, thanks to people who were helpful in sharing knowledge of her whereabouts. Although she has chosen for now not to be reunited with her Reunited after 34 years, Griffin brothers and sisters (left side, from back) Jay, Faye, Ralph, Kenny, (right, from back) aner tugeiner 4f-4- . v brothers and sisters, we want her to know that we love her and are grateful that the recurring dreams of empty spaces will end now that we know she is happy, Mrs. Gallegos said. Faye joined an organization called the Adoptees Liberty Movement Association (ALMA) at the beginning of this year. Although the prospects were dim, she submitted the information she had available about her family such as birthdates and names. She received a letter from ALMA saying someone named Jay whose dates matched those of the Jay she was searching for had signed up with their organization in 1981. After searching through every phone book they could find, they located his adoptive parents in Ogden just blocks from where Faye had lived for several years. He was working for the govern ment in Belgium and after a phone call to reassure themselves he was indeed their brother, the reunion was planned. Its hard to believe that all those years some of us have been living within twenty minutes of each other, Mrs. Gallegos said. Roger lives in Salt Lake City, Kenny in North Ogden, Grace lives in Layton, Jeanne in Sunset. Ralph and Dee live in Lewiston, Faye lives in Antioch, Calif., Keith in Santa Ana.
