Davis United Way exceeds goal FARMINGTON The Unit-- ; ed Way of Davis County has exceeded its goal for the 1985 ' ' campaign. The 1985 goal of $475,000 was exceeded by pledges totalling $51 1,304. The percent of the goal .achieved was 107.6 percent with ;an increase of $35,554, reported Jim Duncan, campaign chairman, as he wrapped up 1985s campaign. Awards were recently presented to the dozens who spent many hours gaining support for the program that assists upwards of 80 services across the Wasatch Front. : In the 1984 campaign, $426,000 was raised, with 985s total far exceeding any of the previous 10 campaigns. 1 In festive ceremonies at Servus Drug in Bountiful, honors were given to some of the many who helped. Receiving the major contributor award were. Mountain Fuel Supply Co., Davis County School District, both of Davis County; Sperry Inc., Albertsons Distribution Center, both of North Salt Lake; Hercules Inc., Fram Corp., Utility Trailer Inc., Johnson Controls, all Freeport Center, Chevron USA Refinery, both Bountiful. To qualify for that honor, more than $10,000 must be pledged between corporate and employee contributions, including at least 50 percent employee participation. Eaton-Kenwa- y, Certificates of appreciation went to 38 firms or groups, having a 25 percent increase over last years total contribution. Gold awards were presented to more than 100 businesses across the county. To qualify, 50 percent of employees must pledge with the average contribution exceeding $20. Individuals contributing 9 were inducted into the bronze club; those from 9 the silver and $750 gold, with 144 new members welcomed into the Eagle Club, joining the 175 charter members from the 1984 campaign.
