Freedom Supported By Admiral HILL AFB Delivering the keynote speech at Hill AFB Saturday to nearly 400 retirees and spouses from all services, Ilear Admiral Maxine Condor said that although the price of free- -, dom is high, its worth it, considering the alternatives. In a speech which drew a standing ovation from the partisan crowd, the retired U.S. Navy Adm. said she was shaken and angered when she read songwriter and singer Bob Dylans ' statement that world peace is impossible and not worth working for. If that is true, she said, my professional career, and yours, was for naught. Indicating that that was an unacceptable idea, Admiral Condor reflected on her recent viewing of the 40 anniverand the dedicasary of tion ceremony for the Unknown Vietnam Soldier on television. Since being compelled to look at this nations quest for peace, she said She has seen much evidence that people still believe it. to be a worthwhile goal. ' When weve taken up arms, its been for the defense of freedom, said the second woman rear admiral in the navys history. Power for the preservation of peace is good, she said, i countering the belief of some that the use of force is inherently evil. Leadership and strength are not diametrically opposed to' morality and the pursuit of good, she said. Air Force Major General Marc C.
