world will be on the minds of thousands of Mormon teenage girls as d peace messages attached to balloons will hover above northern Utah skies next Saturday morning The launching the balloons planned months before the ReaganGorbachev meeting will take place at dawn with local LDS young women joining some 300000 other girls ages 12 to 18 worldwide Each girl will write a message and then send up a balloon with a message attached said Lauri Jensen a local organiz- of messages of peace “To whomever finds this balloon" writes one North Ogden girl who will be sending a message “My name is Michele Lund am a girl living in Ogden Utah I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints I would like to make three wishes for the world The first wish would be that there could be peace all over the world The second would be that we all could help someone everyday — even if it is just a smile The third w ish would be that everyone should all remember that we are beautiful" More than 2000 young women are expected to gather at the Weber High School athletic field at 7 am with another 1500 girls at Wildcat stadium at Weber State College at 7:45 am The combined groups represent 17 stakes In Church briefs Elder Devere Harris to speak at Institute V During Saturday’s gathering about 77 of the 2000 young women at the the Weber High School stadium wiil sing a song called “Rising Generation" The “Young Women Values" of the church will also be presented with flags of red green orange yellow blue white and purple — the same colors of the balloons Each value is represented by Wyoming Harris recently returned from serving three years in the South Pacific area in Sydney Australia and is a managing director in the Temple Department and a member of Boundary and Leadership Utah and the region will be happening simultaneously In all young women from 95 countries will be participating “We want our young women all around the world to feel the strength that comes from being united in a good cause" said Ardeth G Kapp president of the sponsoring organization the Young Women of the Mormon Church “These young women have committed to values in their lives that let them know
