' It is sad to say but the world cannot see;.the Gospel In Action because we who have been given the Gospel in its fulness of every past dispensation, are not telling of its glories to others or in fact even letting its light shine. Too often the converts to our Church although still thrilled to the precious beliefs and teachings, are disappointed in our works and actions and shocked at the indifference and lightmindedness and lack of devotion and spirituality. Havent you , N heard them say, You dont know what precious truths you have you have every promise, every blessing yet you fail God and yourselves. They are shocked at the treasures but not of for world grasping knowledge they see us taking all things for granted. Do you feel that mostly this is the case? Do we waste our time fail to study and pray and in humility seek our God and all righteousness? ..,They do feel and see lack of reverence and even lack of church attendance, and they say in shocked quiet voices, You people do not act as if you believe you are children of God who have all promise if' yqu are faithful and working. t ii Boyd Holden Sp5 Boyd Holden has been home from Vietnam for a 36 day leave. Yet I decided Id never mention my tub again, but I just have to tell you of my latest experience. The thing happened that Id been expecting to happen for a long time: I had read a chapter from a new book and I decided to rest my eyes like the church sleepers do. I placed the book over my eyes to shade them from the light but one corner dipped into the bath water and in 15 or 20 minutes, when I awakened, that book was sopping wet. Title of book: Spiro Agnew: Spokesman for American, by Robert Curran. Its been three days since that event and old Spiro isnt dry yet. Now if it had been a book on Martha Mitchell, I wouldnt have cared much, but getting Spiro all wet isnt the most satisfying thing Ive ever done. If you dont recognize the name, hes vice president of the United States. His name by now is supposed tobe a household term and I suppose it is because according to my wet book, Mr. Agnew, in two years as VP has been on two Newsweek and Time Magazine covers. He has also been on the cover of Esquire and has been allotted more news space than the four fellers who held the office before him had in total. I mentioned Martha Mitchell; I wouldnt be caught in a bathtub with her; I mean with a book about her; she talks too much. I suppose you heard about their making a Martha Mitchell doll and her husband, the Attorney General of the U.S., said that the doll was not a good imitation of his wife because it didn't talk. This husband its chell. When we used to speak of Martha, everyone thought we meant Martha Washington; now we know Martha Mitchell were talking about. Hey, how did we get onto this Martha Mitchell kick? I suppose my writing of something all wet did it. But lets get back to Spiro. Went up to hear him when he was in Salt Lake City recently, not because I was a fan of his but because my wife and I represented the press. I like the guy: Ive always appreciated people who have had the guts to say what they believed and smart enough to come up with some intelligent answers when their enemies verbally attacked them. Some people are actually asking if they think Spiro will drop Dick from the Republican ticket in 1972.
