Show 4 TM ""fry, JAYSON CKtOMCU Jwn 25, 1970 Wedding vows Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Cook of Goshen greeted many gue sts, relatives and friends at a lovely wedding reception June 12 at the Goshen Ward Cultural Hail, Marriage told Mr. and Mrs. Don Jasperson of Payson amoonce the marriage of their daughter, Barbara, to Tom Prince, son of Mr. and Mrs. Demie Prince, of Spanish Fork. They were married June 11 in Las Vegas, Nevada and honeymooned in California. The young couple were married earlier the same evening at the home of the brides parents with Bishop V. Joel White performing the ceremony. Parents of the newlyweds are Mr. and Mrs. Glen Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Davis of Spanish Fork and the late Harry Open house to honor couple Cook of Goshen. For her wedding the bride chose a gown of white satin draped with white lace. She wore a short veil and carried a bouquet of pink, yellow and blue baby mums. An Open House will be held Friday evening July 3 at Dellas Reception Center for Lynn Denise Burt cm and Glen R. Taylor. Lynn is the daughter of Mrs. Fern Fillmore Burton of Spanish Fork and Mr. Dooald Burton of Lindrith, New Mexico, Glen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen S. Taylor of Payson. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to call between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. No formal invitations are being sent. The hall was decorated beautifully in a color scheme of yellow, green and pink. The lovely three tier wedding cake was decorated with pink roses, Vernon Cook, brother of the groom, acted as best man. Shelia Jensen, Marian Jensen, Linda Thomas, Marleen Finch and little Vickie Jensen were the bridal attendants. They were attired in long pastel colored gowns designed with empire waists and carried bouquets of pink, yellow and blue mums. Hallie Jones and Ann Fisher were at the reception book. Darren and Ricky Jensen served as Wedding vows Mr. and Mrs. Byron Staheli of Payson wish to announce the recent marriage of their daughter. Sue, to Kayo B. Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Wilson also of Payson. The couple recited nuptial vows June 6th in a garden ceremony performed at the home of the brides parents by Bernell Evans, Bishop of Payson Second Ward. A smorgasbord supper was served immediately after the ceremony. Assisting with details of the event were the brides sisters, Mrs. Floyd Caskey of Reno; Nev., and Mrs. Robert Lippold of Carson City, Nev. in addition tothebridegrooms brother, Jim Wilson of Salt Lake City. Both bride and groom are graduates of the University of Utah. The bride has taught elementary grades in the Granite School District. Mr. Wilson has been employed in the missile program at Cape Kennedy, Florida. The newlyweds departed immediately after their marriage are and honeymoon- ing in Florida. ushers. The groom is employed at the Burgen Mine in Eureka and the couple will make their home in Goshen. Return home Became bride in Salt Lake Temple rites and Mrs. Alan R. Johnson was married June 12th in theSalt Lake Temple. After which a wedding Brunch was held at the home of the grooms parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence (Bill) Johnson. The same evening a reception was held in the couples honor at the Fourth Ward Cultural Hall. Mr. - Just One Year Old - The couple stood before a backdrop of white Australian drapping accented in pink, The bride wore a gown of white satin with lace applique and seed pearls with a long train and finger tip veil Her bouquet was of white carnations and red roses. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Mirabile and son Michael returned to Payson following a two week vacation visiting in New York City where Michael, now seven years old, saw his grandmother, Mrs. Linda Mirabile, for the first time. Mr. Mirabile also has five brothers who live in the New York City area. The Mlrabiles traveled by air. The bride chose as her matron of honor Mrs. Verna Jean Pierce and her bridesmaids were Mrs. Kathy Perkins of Orem, Mrs. Bonnie Hone and Miss Shauna Johnson, sisters of the groom and Miss NaDene Thorn, sister of the bride. The girls wore floor length dresses of pink with white lace trim and each tarried a single long stem red rose. Hansen of Payson announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Becky, to Sergeant Kent Youd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Youd of Payson, The couple will be married August 29 in the Payson First-Fift- h Ward Chapel with Bishop Dorman Seeley officiating. A reception will follow the ceremony. Miss Hansen is a graduate of the Payson High School and Seminary. She Is now employed at the Polar Queen. Mr. Youd is also a graduate of the Pay-so- n High School and has served in the United States Marines for the past three years. The couple plan to reside in Southern California where Mr. Youd is presently stationed. Hone. Mr. Davis is doing graduate work at the Texas school and they will return there in August. At present he is participating in a geological field conference sponsored by the National Science Foundation at Cedar City and in the surrounding area. The conference is made up of graduate students from Utah, Colorado; Arizona and New Mexico. Mr. and Mrs. Davis (Karen Thomas) are residing in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Davis, who are temporarily located at Green River, while Mr. Davis is employed on construction there. The young couple have visited with both their parents. The Davis couple, who spent the weekend here and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Thomas of Paysoiv Mr. and Mrs. Jack Horner and two little children, Margaret Ellen, 4; and Lee Thomas Horner, not quite two; have been houseguests of Miss Beth Huish during the past week. CHERRY JELLO SALAD 2 plcgs. jello (1 lemon and 1 cherry) 1 - 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese 1 12 cups boiling water 12 cup walnuts 1 med. can pineapple, crushed 1 small bottle maraschino cherries (juice and all) 1 cup whipping cream (whipped) Dissolve jello and set until like egg Add pineapple, cherrie , and whites. cream cheese. Chill until bearly set Fold Jn the cream and nuts. Set until firm. Serves 10. BUTTER DATE DROP COOKIES Batter is made by mixing the following: cup butter 2 cups brown sugar 3 eggs, beaten 12 teaspoon salt 12 teaspoon soda 4 cups flour 1 teaspoon vanilla Filling: Boil together following ingredients, cool add add nuts. 2 cups dates (chopped) 1 cup sugar 1 cup water 1 cup nuts Spoon 1 teaspoon dough onto greased cookie sheet, spoon on 12 teaspoon filling then put 1 teaspoon dough on top. Put about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for ten minutes. 1 Mich., and his wife and baby will remain in Provo for about six weeks. Mrs. Horner, former Ethel Jewell, once a Payson school teacher, is a member of the summer school faculty at Brigham Young University, assigned to the College of Family Living. She has taught in summer school at Michigan State University, East Lansing, for several summers. Okemos, Approximately a hundred members of the S.T. Gardner family met June 13 at the Spanish Fork Stake Center to hold their annual reunion. Self introductions were made and the group sang Love at Home; afterwhlch luncheon was served and the afternoon was spent in exchanging family news. Lorin Partridge was born August 1, 1900, to John F. and Alice Ann Jackson Partridge. He received his education in the Payson schools. He has been active in civic and church affairs. He was recreat- ional director of Utah County and recreational director of Payson City for three years. Been in Elders Pre idency on two separate occasions. Mr. Presidencywas a Scout Master for over thirty years. While acting as Scout Master of Payson Troop 91, he had over 60 scouters get their Eagle badge. He holds the silver beaver award. He attended national Jamboree while he was Scout Master. He and Mrs. Partridge were stake and ward dance directors. He was engaged in farming and also worked for the Nebo School District. Mr. Partridge is a very handy man with tools and has helped construct many homes and worked for Geneva Steel in its Mr. Partridge was very construction. active in sports as a young man and has been a sports fan for many years. He also loves to fish, and help his children. Mildred Partridge was born March 2, 1902, a daughter of William J. and Mary She has held various Ethel Kinder. offices in the church. She served 26 years in the Primary Association, has been MIA teacher, Era director and Relief Society Magazine director for five years. She has been a visiting teacher in the Relief Society for 42 years. It was very good and everyone enjoyed it. Club was held Wednesday at Lylla Heelis. We returned to Mrs. Spencers and made orange sugar toast, cinnamon toast, cocoa syrup and hot cocoa with marshmallows. All seven members were present. Kathryn Perry - Reporter We and went BURGERS 2 pounds ground beef 1 cup shredded cheese 14 cup catsup tablespoon prepared mustard cup chopped celery cup sliced green onion Shape ground beef into 16 thin patties. Combine remaining ingredients. Broil burgers over low, glowing coals until brown on under side; turn. Top half of pattie with cheese mixture; brown patties on under side. Cover topped burgers with plain patties. Cook thoroughly. Serve in hamburger buns or alone as a meat entree. CHIU N SAUSAGES 2 cans (4 ounches each) canned Vienna sausages 1 can chili con came (15 ounces) wiener buns shredded Cheddar cheese 1 14 14 chopped onion Heat chili in saucepan and Vienna sausages on grate over glowing coals. Place two or three sausages in a long wiener bun; spoon 14 to 13 cup heated chili over sausages. Top with shredded cheese Makes 6 to 7 sandwiches. SENIOR CITIZENS The Senior Citizens Tabernacle has recently been landscaped with tulips, marigolds, petunias, roses, shrubs and evergreens. Those assisting with the project were Lyndon Crook, Willis Provstgaard, Fred Mordue, George Herbert, Amley Pulver, Terry Jackson and Stan Wilson. The City has installed a new water line on each side of the building for more convenient watering and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bowen have tuned the piano. A new Shuffle board has been Installed and a pool table is available. On Thursday the Provo Senior Citizens will visit the Payson Building and lunch will be enjoyed at Memorial Park. The Payson Senior Citizens are sponsoring a bus to the Valley Music Hall on June 30, to the Lawrence Welk show. A few tickets are still available. We learned that nylon melts and turns into a hard ball at the end. Cotton burns really fast. Next time we will talk about our scarves. Were having it at Julies house today.
