He was born December 25, 1941 in Provo, Utah to Roy and Emma Farnsworth Broadbent. He married Susan Ledbetter, August 2, 1968 in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church; Bonneville Exchange Club Treasurer, director, head of accounting, Security National Life Insurance Co. He attended Brigham Young University. Survivors: wife, son, Charles Richard, Salt Lake City; father, Payson; mother, Honolulu; two brothers, Ross, Sao Paulo, Brazil; David, Van Nuys, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Michael (Mary Ann) Jaenish, Salt Lake City. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. with burial in Elysian Burial truck with its name painted on the cab, was a familiar sight in Payson for the past 25 years or more. It was often filled with laughing children as he took them for rides around town. I remember the Old Srimp Boat rides. What fun. My fine brothers and sisters, all our friends, Sharon, Susan, Carol Sue; the othes, do you remember? Every September and the big roll of tickets he carried around that meant one free ride for all the kids at the carnival? And every Sunday afternoon we could count on him being there to escort us to the matinee in the back of the Old Srimp Boat? Who could forget that expected stick of Black Jack gum? What memorieb. There are too many of this man to mention. Im married now. I have two lovely children of my own. I hope that some day they too can look back to the years of their childhood, and be able to recall a gentle white haired hero who helped fill would learn to do things NOW and not go along with the idea that we can put things off until later. Take doing dishes for example if a person gets right up from a meal and washes the dishes they can be done easier and quicker than if they are left on the drainboard to wait. And there is nothing quite like the feeling you get when you have a responsibility and know that it is done! The things we put off and think wiU go away, often are like rabbits, they just keep on multiplying. She enjoyed writing poetry and gardening One day Club Funeral services were held Monday for Carla Jane Augustus, 5 day old infant daughter of Thomas and Barbara Painter She died of natural causes in Augustus. the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo Thursday. She was born on March 21. Survivors are her parents of Provo; two brothers Thomas and Wayne, and two sisters Debbie and Jane all of Orem. Grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Vondell Painter, Santaquin; Mr. and Mrs. Luke Augustus, Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lumbert, Detroit, Michigan; Mrs. Emma Painter, Santaquin; Mrs. Clarabelle Kelley, Provo; and Mrs. Susan E. Beard, Nevada, Missouri. A short funeral service was held at the Keith Jolley Mortuary in Payson Monday at 1 p.m. before burial in the Santaquin City Cemetery, under direction of Keith Jolley mortuary. She was a charter member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers in Payson and served as one of its first officers. Erlandson, 94, 286 E. Utah Ave., died Tuesday, March 24, 1970, at the Payson Hospital of natural causes. Born May 9, 1875 in Hyde Park, Utah, she was a daughter of Dr. James and Louisa She married Otto B. Purser Hancey. Erlandson in 1895 and moved to Payson that same year. She has lived in Payson since. Mr. Erlandson, a prominent businessman and longtime bishop of the Payson LDS First ward, died in 1959. Mrs. Erlandson to work in the mines at Mammoth in 1907. He joined the Navy June 18, 1918, and served until August, 1919. He rejoined in 1925 and served until 1928, He was custodian of a number of public buildings in Payson, including the Tabernacle, Post Office and American Legion Hall. He was a member of the LDS church and a member of the Barracks, a World War I Veterans organizatin, Post 2670 of Provo. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 48, Payson, for a period of about 49 years and served as He offered chaplain for many years. countless prayers at Payson City Cemetery when military rites honored deceased men and also at Memorial Day services in the cemetery. He was known for his love of country and for his love of children. He posted the colors on a flag pole in his front yard and also on one in the cemetery daily, often with children standing at attention. . Lulu H.
