Lambert i Mary Hale Woolsey, 70, native of Spanish Fork and famed for having written the lyrics to Springtime in the Rockies, 'died Saturday, Dec. 6, 1969, in Santa Monica, Calif. Mrs. Woolsey wrote the words to the fumous song when she was 13 years old. By 1931, some 2 12 militia copies of the piece had been sold. She was bora on March 21, 1899, in Spanish Fork, a daughter of John T. and Sarah Elizabeth Stewart Hale. In June 1917, she married Parley Woolsey. They were liter divorced. Her career as a lyracist began while she was attending a few classes at BYU during the years 1915 to 1917. She later served as a special writer for classes at the University of Utah and Columbia and chartShe was er secretary for the Utah Poetry Society, and acted as chairman of its project anthology, Utah Sings." Her name and history is listed in Who's Who in the West, Whos Who Among American Wcmen and Who's Who in Music. She had four children, Mrs. Udell (Lael) Hill, Mrs. Elion R. (Enid) Johnston, Mrs. Charles F. (Vevedeen) Hill, and Mrs. Rrbert W. (Shelia June) Wooley. John F. Taylor, 87, 20 S. 4th E., Salem died Monday; Dec. 8, 1969, in the Payson Hospital. He was born April 1, 1882, in Salem, a son of David Rufus and Sarah Richardson Taylor. He married Effie May Hanks on Nov. 10, 1909 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was a dairy farmer in Salem for his entire life, with the exception of six years when he worked for Green Meadows Farms in Murray. He was a member of the LDS Church and had worked in the Aaronic Priesthood and as a home teacher. He wa? a high . Survivors include his widow, Salem; four daughters and three sons, Mrs. Roy (Edith) Wainwright, Kemmer, Wyo.; Mrs. Elmo (Vyrus) Grohman, Las Vegas, Nev.; Mrs. Glen R. (Ruby) Buchanan, Salt Lake City; Morris F. Taylor and Wayne Taylir, both of Springville; Mrs. James (Louise) Reed, Salem; and Don A. Taylor, Spanish Fork. Also surviving are 28 grandchildren, 32 and three sisters, Mrs. Samuel (Permelia) Myers, and Mrs. Maggie Morgan, both of Payson; and Mrs. George (Mary) Thompson, Spanish Fork. Funeral services were conducted Wed. at 1 p.m. at the Salem LDS Ward Chapel, with Bishop Roy Miller officiating. Interment was in the Salem City Cemetery under the direction of Walker Mrs. Page Peery was host to members Sorosis Bridge Club Thursday evening. Mrs. Norma Jones and Mrs. Q. M. Burdick were guests in addition to members. High score awards went to Mrs. Spence Mendenhall, Mrs. SamMcFaddenandMrs. Harold Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Smith have received word of the birth of a daughter to their son, Terry, and his wife, former Fern Johnson, at Tigard, Oregon. The couple now has a family of three girls and two boys, and recently moved into a new home. Prelude and postlude was played by Sandra Armstrong with invocation by How- ard Holladay. The Singing Mothers sang Softly and Tenderly, conducted by Vivian Roper and accompanied by Sandra Armstrong. Speakers were D. Lynn Crook and Gordon Heelis. A tribute was given by Estella Peterson and Erma Cloward and Shirley Holman played an organ and piano duet, 0 My Father." After remarks by Bishop Justin Lamb, the Singing Mothers sang, Abide With Me; Tis Eventide." Benediction was by Sylvester Evans. Family prayer was given by Hugh R. Twede. Burial was in the Santaquin City Cemetery under the direction of Keith Jolley Mortuary where the grave was dedicated by Alva J. Moore. Pallbearers were Darrel R. Twede, Steven Searle, R.N. Geneva Moore Holladay, 77, 85 E. 2nd S Santaquin, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 1969 in an Orem nursing home of causes to age. She was born Jan. 24, 1892, in Spring Lake, a daughter of John Harvey and Viva Patten Moore. She married Menles T. Holladay on May 10, 1911, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mrs. Holladay received her education in Spring Lake schools and later attended the Brigham Young Academy.
