Show THE PAYSON Hilights from Goshen Mrs. Eva Cook Phon Green judged a quarter horse show. Mrs. Margerite Poulson of Richfield and several other family members had a family reunion at Nephi Park last Friday. They also visited their father, Mr. Jessie Poulson, who is a patient at a rest home Andy Poulson of Goshen also attended. Andy is making his home with the Duane Green family. The O.N.O. Club had a delicious luncheon last Thursday after a swimming party at Warm Springs. Luncheon was at Elaine Nelsons home. Mr. and Mrs. Sher Thomas is spending two weeks at Palmyra Park enjoying the canyon beauty. While camping there Mrs. Birtie Okelberry was taken to the Payson Hospital, last Friday, where she is receiving tests and treatment for a heart condition. I to r: Legrand Smith, D. Austin Cope Jr., Mr. Jr. Sornsen of Ogden and his sister, Mrs. Madge Hymas of Tooele, spent last Saturday at their old home, the Floyd fund committee which consists of Blair and Diane Beckstrom, Merill and LaRue Beckstrom, Glen and Blanche Hawkins and Ronald and Coleen Ludlow. The Bishop gave the financial standing of the building fund. The amount of money so far raised for the building is $65,727.75. Stake President J. Austin Cope then spoke. The Singing Mothers sang, "The Bridge Builder. The concluding speaker was President LeGrant Smith of the Palmyra Stake High Council. The first shovel of dirt was lifted by Bishop Levon Payne. The actual building will begin Tuesday morning, August 5th, 1969. Benediction was by President Clair 0. Anderson of the Palmyra Stake Presidency. . Ground breaking ceremonies for Benjamins new church was held Monday evening, August 4th, 1969, on the west end of the building lot where the grove was. Don Waldo Potter of the ward bishopric conducted the ceremony. The invocation was by Reed Cornaby of the bishopric. The Singing Mothers sang, "Firm As The Mountains Around Us, conducted by Diane Beckstrom and accompanied on the piano by Kate Hickman. The piano was brought by truck from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Downey. Bishop' Lavon E. Payne was the 1st speaker. He spoke in appreciation of all who have helped, mentioning the building PORTRAITS Mr. Ronald Hall, a Payson LDS Seminary instructor was chosen as advisor to District Seminary Officers from Lehi on the North to Payson on the South, for 1969-7- 0. Mr. Ray Louder of Orem was also an advisor. Mrs. Larry Jensen and two children of Concord, Calif, left for home last Thursday after spending the past week at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milo Burraston. She also visited her brother and family in Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Gerold Greenhalgh; her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Verl Sudweeks of Payson; and Mr. and Mrs. Chris Christensen of Mapleton. Mrs. Clephia Riley visited her daughter, Mrs. Idona Holman last Saturday, July 26, and helped her celebrate her birthday. Mrs. Holman is employed at the Medicare Office. The family plan on a two week vacation. Mr. and Mrs, Evelyn Kirk left Saturday to return their grandsons, Roby and Bret Echevarrieta, to their home at Lake Tahoe. The boys flew up two weeks ago for a vacation. They are the sons of Mr, and Mrs. Richardo Echevarrieta Mr. and Mrs. Wm. White and children spent last week vacationing at Yellowstone National Park. Mr. Casper Wolf of Seattle, Washington flew to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm, Wolf Sr. He returned home last weekend. Mrs. Grant Lyman received word the of the week that her brother-in-laBlaine Gailey, from Salt Lake had suffered a serious heart attack while on a vacation trip at Lake Tahoe over the 24th holiday weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Gailey had accompanied her sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Butterfield of Provo on the trip when they went to see their daughters who were employed at the Lake Resort. Mr. Gailey was taken to a hospital and Mrs. Gailey has remained there to be near him. first w, Rejoicing over the birth of a darling girl are Mr. and Mrs. Andy C. Jasper-so- n (Joy Butler). It is their first child. The little miss was born early Sunday morning, July 27, at the Payson Hospital and tipped the scales at 7 pounds and 10 ounces. They also visited for a short time at the home of Mrs. Arnolds sister, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Menlove, before Ralph Egan were very to have their son, Petty Officer 3rd Class Steven Egan, home on a fifteen day leave from Gulfport, Miss, where he was stationed. When he left at the end of his leave he was to report at Rhode Island for special training and then he will be sent to Antartica. He had previously spent nine months in Vietnam before being sta- tioned at Gulfport. Mr. and Mrs. Elvon Butler attem.ua meeting at the Santaquin South Ward Sunday night to hear their grandson, Lynn Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Jensen of Goshen, who returned home Wednesday from attending the National Scout Jamboree held in Idaho, give a report of his trip and the things they did. The group of mutual marrieds who met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Johnson Sunday night were entertained by Mr. C.L, Stevens and wife from Provo. Mr. Stevens showed some very interesting slides of Mexico which he had taken on several trips they had made to Mexico. He talked about each picture as he showed it. Refreshments were served to about 20 attending. A Youth Fireside was held Sunday night after meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kitteridge. Elder Dan Lafferty showed pictures that he took while serving on a mission in Scotland. He told about the country, people and interesting places he visited. i Little Von Menlove, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Menlove, who was five years old on Sunday, July 27, was very happy when six of his little friends were invited to a birthday party on Monday at his home to help him celebrate his birthday. They played games and party refreshments were served. Mr. and Mrs. David Crouch and children who have been residing here for several months left on Tuesday to go to Idaho Falls to make their home where they have recently bought a dairy. Mrs. Darthella Cook from Goshen visited at the home of her aunt, Lenora Huish, Wednesday morning. Richard Spainhower and his boy friend, Randy, called in at the home of his grandmother, Mrs. Cecil S. Peery, Wednesday night for a short visit with her. The boys had been out hunting rabbits and called in on their way home. Twenty Spring Lake Ward MIA girls and guests returned home Friday morning from a four day outing at camp at the KoHoLoWO girls home in Santaquin Canyon. The girls were accompanied by leaders, Ilia Bascom, Jennie Ruth Alvey and Ann Bascom. Mrs. Bascom completed her four year certification and the girls worked on their second and third year. Leaders who drove up to the girls home Wednesday night to attend the testimony meeting held were Mrs. Lois June Lundell, Mrs. Joyce Saunders and Mrs. Dorothy Moore.
