Fathers Day seems to be taking on more prestige as time goes by and I can easily understand why fathers are getting more important all the time. Its because everyone wants to keep up with the Joneses and its father who picks up the tab for keeping up with the Joneses. By the way, did you hear about that feller who said that every time he caught up with the Joneses, they refinanced? Seriously, I wish today to pay tribute to a very fine man. He was the father of a woman of my acquaintance. A few years ago it was found that he had cancer and his days on this earth were numbered. In those intervening months preceeding his death, his condition worsened, yet he was not aware that he had only months to live. The following tribute was written to that man by his daughter: TO MY FATHER have been written to fathtributes Many ers in America for Fathers Day, but I doubt that any have been mdre lovingly written than this one in tribute to my father. My love for him has always been so deep that just the mere feeling brings a sting of 11 singing to me those songs now so nostalgic of long ago. He was my companion. He would hold my hand firmly in his and teach me how to climb the mountainside, how to catch a fish and how to identify the wild flowers. And later as I grew up, he taught me how to climb the mountain of life. He is my ideal. Always I hoped that I would marry a man half so grand as my father.. I adore him. He isnt the flowery affectionate type, but his love is the quiet steadfast kind. And so, my father, dear; may I be the first to wish you a happy Fathers Day? Your loving daughter, This premature Fathers Day tribute was written for him on May 5, 1960 on the afternoon of that fateful day when he returned from surgery and the doctor had diagnosed his illness. The poignancy of that moment lingered with me that day in the hospital. I must appear casual, even gay, pretending that I didnt know his incurable malady. Each day of summer was like a moment stolen from the calendar - one that couldnt be replaced. Irreconsilable were the days. And then I remembered the words of Cardinal Newman. Many times I had repeated them but only now did they gain Fear not that life shall significance: come to an end, but rather fear that it shall never have a beginning. The days of autumn spun themselves into golden memories. Each new day was embraced with the knowledge of life... the joy of sharing those precious hours with my father... because of having learned acceptance. tears to my eyes. When I was a small child, my mother would undress me for bed and my father would hold me tenderly rocking me and that was rather nice and I that many readers love their suppose fathers just as much as the writer above but have never expressed their love in so I thought Mr, and Mrs.' Rex Davis. Installment due Individual taxpayers who filed declarations of estimated Federal income tax must pay the second quarter installment of tax by June 16, 1989. District Director Roland V.
