They brought pot luck dinner and presented her a get well gift. Mrs. Cloward is recuperating from a broken leg suffered in a fall on the ice a month ago. The girls are Lynda Davis, Jackie Thomas, Camile Gardner, Jarlene Ottesen, Janice Thorpe, Judy Underwood, Janet Porter and Vivian Green. Becky, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hunter, celebrated her birthday Saturday afternoon. Twenty little friends gathered at the home where they enjoyed refreshments then were taken to Park RoShe for a roller skating party after which they came back to the home for gamec. She received some nice gifts. Donna Mae Wood Donna Mae Wood, a 19 year old Salem coed en route to the College of Southern Utah at Cedar City was killed Sunday night, Jan. 19, 1969, when the car in which she was riding overturned 15 miles south of Levan, Juab County, on U.S. 91. Police said a tire blew on Spence Amos C. Amos, 64, 160 South 3rd East, Payson, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 1969, in the Payson Hospital of a heart Cyril Spence a and the Tre-mont- on dri- Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Wood had their daughter, Carol Merrill, and children of Dugway to visit them Sat. andSunday. They returned home on Sunday after- She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William (Bill) Wood of Salem. She was killed when thrown out of the car. Four companions en route to school with her were uninjured. They included Laura Lee Taylor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Taylor of Spanish Fork; Rose Mary Spencer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vee Spencer of Spanish Fork; Lorraine Hiatt daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray n, Hiatt of Payson; and Jan son of Mr. and Mrs. Glen M. Belliston of Nephi. Police said Miss Hiatt was 1946. He married Crista Olson on July 14, 1948 in the Manti LDS noon. They will be open Jan. 30 and 31st. driving. Donna Mae Wood, 19, Salem, was born March 26, 1949, in Payson, a daughter of William P. and Evelyn Hanks Wood. She received her early education in Salem elementary schools and later attended Spanish Fork High School, graduating in 1967. She was active in the Pep Club and a cappella choir while in high school. She also was a graduate of the Spanish Fork LDS Seminary. She had received many awards in Spring Lake, died Friday, Jan. 17, 1969, at the Payson City Hospital of natural causes. He was born Dec. 3, 1891, in Charleston, Wasatch County, a son of Joseph E. and Mary Jane Casper Nelson. He married Elsie Gallsher on Oct. 31, 1915, in Malad, Idaho. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Nelson was a retired miner. He was an active member of the LDS Church. He served a mission from 1911 to 1913 to the Southern States, and was a member of the Spring Lake Bishopric for a number of At the time of her death she was attending the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City as a sophomore. At CSU she was a member of the Spurs Social Unit, and was a past member of the Beta Social Unit. She was an active member of the LDS Church, and had been a Junior Sunday School organist for a short time. Her hobbies included playing the pigno and music. Survivors include her parents of Salem; three brothers and one sister, William H.Wood, Don C. Wood and David Wood, all of Salem, and Mrs. Melvin H. (Janet) 'Garner of Spanish Fork, and one grandmother, Mrs. Charles T. Wood, also of Spanish Fork. Funeral services willbe conducted, Thursday, January 23, 1969, in the Salem Ward Chapel with Bishop Roy Miller conduct- -' ing.' years. Survivors include his wife of Spring Lake; two sisters, Mrs. Melvin (Mary) Mitchell, Magna, and Mrs. Charles V. (Zelda) Houser, Bountiful Funeral services were conducted Monday at 1 p.m, in the Spring Lake LDS Ward Chapel. Burial was in the Payson City Cemetery under the direction of Rigby Mortuary. C. Peterson Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18, 1969 in the Eureka LDS Ward Chapel for Peter Christian Peterson. Counselor David Garbett Jr. conducted. Prelude and post-lumusic was played by May-m- e Wirthlin and the invocation was offered by Gary Peterson. Speakers were Wilson Lee and Myrland Nielsen, A solo, In The Garden, was sung by Glen Larsen. David Garbett Jr. gave closing remarks and the benediction was by Ronald Thomas. Pallbearers were Marvin Peterson, Morley Peterson, Dennis Peterson, Michael Peterson de James Ferris, Steven Ferris, John Thomas and Larry Thomas. Prior to the service Jimmy Ferris offered a family prayer and Lorin Thompson gave the dedicatory prayer. MWW Mr. and Mrs. Don Pierce took their son, Carlos, to Oak29 land, California on Jan. where he will be sent to Viet Nam for a year. While down there they will visit Mr. and Mrs. Claud Beddoes at San Leandre and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Pierce at Huntington Beach. An active member of the Payson LDS First Ward, he had served as ward finance clerk, member of the Elders quorum presidency and in the Sunday School superintendency. He was a past president of the Payson Lions Club and had owned and operated his own shoe business for 20 years. . Survivors include his widow, Payson; one son, Ronald S. Amos, Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandsons, Michael, Mitchell and Mason Amos, all of Las Vegas. ' Funeral services were held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Payson LDS First Ward chapel, 225 S. 4th E., Payson. Monday the following friends met at her home where a delicious dinner and visiting was enjoyed Mrs. Alice Mattinson, Mrs. Louise Card, Mrs. Alberta Beebe, Mrs. Florence Sperry, Mrs. Gean Wilson and Mrs. Beulah Haskell of Payson. Mrs. Mae Farnsworth entertained her Primary class at a party at her home Monday evening. They spent the time singing songs and discussing Primary work. Refreshments were served. Mary Anderson January Draft Mary Blanche Harper Ander- Virden, N.M., a native of Payson, died Monday, Jan. 13, 1969, of causes incident to age at the home of her son. She was born Jan. 31; 1886, in Payson, a 'daughter of Silas Benjamin and Sarah Amanda Shurtliff Harper. She married Moses Monroe Anderson in El Paso, Tex., on April 2, 1908. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Ariz., LDS Temple. He died in 1958. Asa child, Mrs. Anderson accompanied her mother to Col -onia Diaz, Mexico, after her father died. After the Morman exodus from there, she lived in Texas and Arizona and had made her home in Virden for the past 35 years. Active in the LDS Church, she had served in the Relief Society and Sunday School for son, many 83, years. Survivors include three sons, Arlo M. Anderson, Lake Shore; Andrew L. Anderson, Virden, N.M., and Benjamin P. Anderson, Bountiful; a daughter, Mrs. E. E. (Elsie) Wilson, Deming, N. M.; 17grandchildren;24 one sister Mrs. Elsie Petrie, Tempe, Arizona, and three half-siste- rs and two Mrs. Carrie Ford, Mrs. Steve (Sadie) and J. 0. Richins, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Kermit (Olive) McCulloch, Las Vegas, Nev., and Marlin Richins, Franklin, Ariz. Funeral services were held in the Virden, N.M., LDS Ward f Chapel, with Bishop William j Clouse officiating. Burial was in New Mexico. --ft sh Set at 26,800 WASHINGTON (ANF) The Department of Defense has requested the Selective Service System to provide for the 26,800 inductees Army in January 1969. The Defense Department said the request supports force currently approved levels and will assure a timely flow of replacements for men completing their terms of service. The fluctuations in draft calls in recent months have been due mainly to h changes in Army replacement needs, the Defense Department said. The draft call for December was 17,500, and the request for November was 10,000. month-to-mont- 500 Housing Units Scheduled for Army WASHINGTON (ANF) The Defense Department is constructing 2,000 military family housing units, including 500 for the Army, during Fiscal Year 1969. The housing units, which will cost about $40 million, will be built in 14 projects in 12 states. The Navy and Air Force will get 750 new units each.
