Games and light refreshments were enjoyed by his parents, brothers and sisters, his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Alma Tanner, and his uncle and family, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Mr. Bill Berry was leader of the Explorer group as they spent three days at winter camp on Mt. Nebo recently. They enjoyed hiking on snow shoes, skiing and camping. Explorers were Kett Berry, Mark Berry, Deloy Adams, Kevin Adams, Melvin Hurst and Reid Wayman. Mr. and Mrs. Merl and Mary Ann Wilson Jim Lowe, a Senior at the Payson High School and Citizen of the Month, adopted a philosophy of significance for one yet so young: I believe that education is an opportunity rather than an obligation. Anything worth doing in school or church is worth doing well. Everything that is learned is of some beneficial use; one should take advantage of his opportunities and learn and achieve. Jim is the son of Reed E. and Vilda Leavitte Lowe of 231 South 400 West Street in Payson. He is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-da- y Saints. He is secretary of his Priest's Quorum, Priesthood organist and a member of the Youth Discussion Committee. He is an active member of the student body at the Payson High School. He played varsity football and is of the wrestling team. He is also a member of the track team. He is also on the Seminary Honor Council. Congratulations, Jim Lowe. This Provst-gaar- d daughter, Judy Provstgaard, and Mr. Bill ber of Salt Lake visited Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Angus Mortenson. Mary Ann stated. 1 have found that if one always looks for the best in everyone and expects good things from them, that is what you will find. Mary Ann is one of those citizens of the Payson High School who contributes to the many positive activities that are functioning there. She is a member of the drill team, President of the Thespian Club and a Dance Club officer. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alma Wilson of 303 East 400 North in Payson. Mary Ann attended Girls State last summer. She is chorister in both the MIA and the Junior Sunday School of her ward. Mr. and Mrs. Don Brinkman left Jan. 2 for Vermillion, South Dakota where they attended funeral services for Mr. Brinkmans mother, Mrs. Leloa Brinkman. They returned home Jan. 8th. Mr. Norman Rowley and Mr. Reid Wayman motored to San Francisco, California on a business trip. They returned Sat. The March of Dimes drive is once again organized and in full swing in West Mountain. Mrs. Laverne Pierce is chairman and has chosen many to assist in this worthy drive. Every home will be visited and people are ask to donate to a worthy project to help stamp out polio. Dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hiatt Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Kent Alder and children, Debbie and Mark, of Provo. Mrs. Alder is a daughter of the Hiatts. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller motored to Salt Lake Wednesday morning to visit for a short time with her nephew, STg Ben Garbet, of Denver who left Thursday for Viet Nam. Open house was held at the home of his mother, Mrs. Kate Matern. Mr. Garbet s wife and family will remain in Denver. They have a son in training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Christine Hiatt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Hiatt, was called to represent the youth of Nebo Stake at Stake Conference Sunday morning as she bore her testimony. Mr. and Mrs. Oran Finlinson Monday from a four returned Mr. Loyd Penrod Sr. was taken to the Payson City Hospital last Friday. He is receiving tests and treatment.
