Onion Days To Librarian Wonderful World of Flowers and Art is the theme for Pay-soannual flower and art show to be held during Harvest Days. The communitv is greatly enriched by the interest in lovely yards and the treasures found in self expression by many citizens. These people are invited each year to display their flowers and art works for the enjoyment of others. Local artists are urged to enter their paintings and help to ns make this thirteenth annual art show one of the best to be held in Payson. Rules for entry are as follows: Each artist may exhibit two paintings and must be eighteen years of age or older. The pictures must be 16 x 20 or larger, ready for hanging, complete with wire and screw eyes. Pictures previously exhibited in the Payson show may not be used. They must be painted not retouched photographs. Pictures made of other materials should be exhibited in the arts and crafts FLOWER SHOW show. Pictures will be received at school across from Memorial Park from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening, Aug. 30th, and should be picked up Monday, September 2nd at 5:00 p.m. A member of the committee will be in attendance but can not be responsible for damage or loss of any picture. Please observe the above rules because any painting not complying with regulations can not be hung. The Flower Show is open to exhibitors from Payson, Spring Lake, Santaquin, Goshen, Elberta, Genola, Salem, and 's Souvenir Program booklet being published this year as a special feature of Golden Onion Days and Homecoming. Mr. Rodgers is serving as the Chairman with Leo Daley in The 40 page program contains charge of the advertising. the schedule of events for the entire celebration, a complete program for the musical, the homecoming program as well as many interesting pictures and items about Payson. Those purchasing this book for the 50tf fee will be given racing programs which ran be inserted in. The books go on sale next Friday and will be sold at all the functions during the celebration by the High School Band students as a fund raising Revenue derived above project for their new uniforms. the expenses will go toward improvement of the celebration. Benjamin. Junior Division will include two age groups: 4 to 10 years, and 11 to 15 years of age. The age of the exhibitor must be on the entry card. The Flower Show will open on September 1 at 1:30 p.m. and remain open until 10:00 p.m. On September 2 the Show will open at 12 noon and close at 5 p.m. that evening. IBS Seminary Beautification Project Continues Search For Best Yard There are so many lovely yards in Payson, it will be difficult for judges to choose Mr. and Mrs. Page Peery have a lovely yard at 90 North 200 West. Past yard winners in 1963, their yard features many interesting plantings. Shown above is their sunken garden, which is a site to see. but three for $25.00 prizes. The awards are presented annually by Payson Chamber of Commerce and directed by the Beautification Committee. Prizes for the best back yard, the best front yard and the most improved yard will be given to citizens. deserving The seminary in Payson has alwavs been like a halo for the High School. The first seminary in Payson was established in the basement of the house of Clarence Ellsworth (this residence is now owned bv McKay Christensen). Elder John A. Oleson was (tie first seminary principal in the fall of 1926. The Seminary soon outgrew its quarters and a new building was needed. f Announce- ment of winners will be made by Arch Williams, committee member in charge, during Har- vest Days. Citizens of Payson are certainly to be complimented for the picturesque settings being created within the citv. Each year there are manv more lovely yards developed. Past contest winners lead the way by continually improving already beautiful yards. Starting Schedule Set For Jr. High School Starting School schedule for the Payson Junior High School: New students who did not register for eighth or ninth a musical to be presented during Homecoming Celebration, is in rehearsal and promises to be an outstanding production. Becky Thomas plays the feminine lead in the title roll, with Allen Wilde in the roll opposite as Capt. Big Jim Warington. The play concerns Mary Potts, known as Little Mary Sunshine, who is the proprietress of the Colorado Inn, a charming place which she built through meager savings she earned through selling her home-mad- e cookies. Although the mortgage is due and Little Mary is penniless, she remains bravely optimistic in the company of an array of visitors to her inn. These visitorx include a troop of Forest Rangers with Capt. Big Jim Warington, whom Mary secretly loves, as their commander. His second in command is Cpl. Billy Jester, played by David Rindlisbacher. Shown above is one near the front entrance, which is alive with colorful pink petunias. In recognition for his efforts in getting the building started, Dr. A.L. Curtis was asked to olfer the praver. As the high school enrollment increased, it became evident that the old building needed a remodeling, which was started in 1940. Anderson Speaks At Poliitical Meeting At a meeting of Kaysville Republicans, Wednesday evening, Mark Anderson, candidate for the U.S. Senate, charged that Senator Bennett sings one tune while voting in the Senate and a different tune while campaigning in Ltah. Park Ward will hold its annual fresh Salmon Supper tonight beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the Payson City Park.
