Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Tervort' motored to Salt Lake Friday af- ternoon. Early Saturday morning they left by bus on a 3 week guided tour that would take them to the Dakotas, Minnesota, New York State and on into Canada. Bishop and Mrs. Henry Jones and young granddaughter, from Salt Lake, visited at the home of Fire Closure Ordered on Wasatch Don Ward stated today that fire condition along the Wasatch front and drainages is hazardous. Due to the lack of moisture during the past four weeks, the cheat grass along the Wasatch front is at a cured stage and is very susceptible to fire. The late frost and lack of moisture has made the oak brush very dry and hazardous. Regional Forester Floyd Iverson has issued a Wasatch Front Closure Order which went into effect June 28, 1968. This prohibits: 1. Setting or replenishing any fires, except campfires in improved campgrounds or picnic areas, within the facilities provided for such campfires; except as otherwise authorized by a Forest officer. 2. Smoking, except at improved places of habitation, or at approved recreation sites, or In an enclosed motor vehicle, or on or in any launched waterborne conveyance, and except also when on paved roads, or wading in a stream; or at a point diameter spot has been scraped to mineral soil where an and such spot is used for depositing ashes and to extinguish smoking materials and matches. This order will remain in effect until fall storm relieves the District Ranger 18-in- ch r fire hazard. Violaters of the Order are subject to prosecution. Ranger Ward cautions everyone to be careful with fire, respect the rights of others, and always try to leave the area so it will be more enjoyable for the next person. ' M Stimulus Needed to Sell Products v The manufacture of a good product is only one step in the process of the creation of wealth. Shortly after World War II, Henry J. Kaiser built a good compact automobile which seemed to fit a real need in the American market. Although the new Kaiser compact, the 'Henry J," was widely promoted in national media, the automobile was not accepted by the public. Two years later other compact automobiles were in significant demand. The compacts claimed a profitable and permanent place in the American market. Why did the Kaiser automobile fail to arouse what was obviously an important latent demand for a small, inexpensive car? Market analysts attributed the failure to several factors: 1. Insufficient time was given to the promotion of a new concept in automobiles. 2. The potential market for the car was not sharply defined. In the united States the compact is often a second, or third, family car. This trend was not anticipated in 1950. 3. Although the 'Henry J." was intensively promoted, insufficient attention was given to specific benefits which could be derived from owning a small car. 4. Local advertising and sales efforts were inadequate. The lack of local dealers, salesmen, and local newspaper advertising was probably a decisive factor. Few people are willing to invest in an expensive product without a final stimulus in the local community. Local dealers were needed to give personal assurances and demonstrations to prove that the promises of the advertising were valid. Such is the combination which keeps all automobiles on the market, and eventually builds the nations wealth.
