Show SPRING LAKE Lenora Huish Scouts Go on a Survival Hike A group of Boy Scouts and their Scoutmaster, Frank Grif- fith, went on an over night hike to the top of the mountain east of Spring Lake. They had to go on foot so they had to carry their bedding and provisions on their backs. All went well and they arrived on a selected camp sight just before the near cloud-burs- t, Friday night, which thoroughly drenched them and . their camp equipment. A rather subdued group of Scoutsarrived home around noon on Saturday - none the worse for their experience of being on top of a mountain in a thunder storm. Butler Family Reunion Held The children and grandchildren of David and Zina Butler held their family reunion Sunday after noon at the Payson City Park. The ninty six members attending came from the surrounding area from Salt Lake, Altamont and places in between. They enjoyed dinner with each family bringing their own picnics. A program and games furnished the entertainment for the group. Ronald Butler is the retiring president. Officers for the next year will be Ina Mae Fitter idge, president; Fay Peterson, vice pres.; Darrel, sec. Those attending from Spring Lake were Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Mower and daughter, Mary; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Hector Sadler, MerleneSadler, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Butler and family, Mr. and Mrs. Neil Kittridge and family, Mr. and Mrs. Shock 'Nielson and son LaVar, and their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Southwick and children. The Southwicks recently came from Los Cruses, New Mexico where Mr. Southwick has been employed. He plans to attend college this winter. Houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Wells for a week were their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. J. Russel Hart and children, from Los Angeles. OnSaturday, their son, Mr. and Mrs. Thurston (Diann) Wells and two children from Salt Lake joined with his parents, his sister, Rayleenand the Hart family, and they all went to Payson Canyon for an outing. Wesley Guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Lyman on Sunday were their sons, Mr. and Mrs. Kenvin Lyman and children; Heather and Peter Haskin from Salt Lake; and their daughter, Mr. and Mrs Ronnie Alvey and two children. They all enjoyed having dinner together. Later in the afternoon Mrs. Lymans parents, Mr. and Mrs Rich Myers from Provo called in. RAY 5. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Moore and a grandson of Mrs. Beatrice Y. Moore, former sidents of Spring Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert received that word from her they have a new granddaughter, born Sunday morning Sept 10, at the Air Force Base hopsital at son-in-la- w Las Vegas, Nev., weighing mat 1 ounce. Parents of arrival are Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd (Judy) Draper. The baby is their first child. Very excited and happy paternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. LuRay Draper, Genola. The little miss is also their first grandchild. 7 pounds the new Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Peay left on Wednesday for Las Vegas to visit their daughter and new baby for about 10 days. Thomas Butler Family Renuion A large crowd of the decend-en- ts of Thomas and Sarah Higdon Butler gathered at Jordon Park in Salt Lake City, on Sunday for their family reunion. After dinner they held a meeting to discuss items of business. Theron Butler, who was president this year will retire and the other officers will move up. Alice Harper Smith will be president; Ronald Simmons, vice president and Howard Butler, secretary. Attending from here were Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cowan, her mother, Fanny Butler, Mr. and Mrs. Theron Butler and Debra Butler. Others attending with them were Mrs. Darthella Cook and family, of Goshen and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Searle and chid-re- n from Salem. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Graham recently enjoyed an eight day trip through the northwest. They went to Byron, Wyo., to attend the Sessions family reunion, meeting and visiting with three hundred members attending and going through Yellowstone Park on the way there. After the reunion they went to Lovell, Wyo., and visited with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd All-re- d. Going on through southern Montana to Spokane, Wash., where they spent some time visiting with Mrs. Grahams niece, Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Sorenson. Two of the interesting places they visited were the Grand Coulee Dam and the Me Nary Dam. They came back by way of LeGrand, Ore., the birthplace of Mr. Graham. They also visited a son, Mr. and Mrs. Karl Butler in Richfield, Ida.; a daughter, Karen and Dale Cur-mat Logan and another daughter, Diane and Clark Wor-wat Hunter. an od Mrs. Darthella Cook and three children from Goshen, visited with an aunt, Lenora Huish Wed. evening. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Butler from Richfield, Idaho, spent three days over the Labor Day weekend visiting at the home of his mother, Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Graham. Other children visiting Little Richard Sheriff, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleon Sheriff of Provo, represents just one of thousands of children who are helped by the 16 agencies and services of United Fund. United Fund officials unveiled the WEST MOUNTAIN Mrj. Ruby Meredith Phone larewell party in honor of Vern Tanner, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Tanner, was held Friday evening at the home of Brenda Rowley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rowley. A Fourteen friends were present and they each wrote a letter for Vern to read as he traveled to the Central States Mission. Rudy Ekins, son of Mr. and Ekins, returned home from Denver this past week where he lias been training and racing tiis own horse. Rudy will attend the BYU this year as a third year .student. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Graham were very pleasantly surprised on Tuesday by a visit from her cousin, Mrs. Martha Barlow from Chevychase, Maryland, whom she had not seen for four years. Mrs. Barlo had come on a plane tc bring her daughter, Alice to Provo to attend BYU. Mrs. Barlow also visited with Mrs. Grahams sister and mother in Santaquin. Keith LeFevre went to Ogden He visited with a sister, the Mont Wilsons, and a brother, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd LeFevre. on Monday. Jerry Kershaw from Sunland, Calif., who were enroute to Salt Lake City, called in at the home of their grandmother, Mrs. Cecils. Peery for a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Payson, made a trip to Ririe, Idaho, to visit his sister and family, Paul and Larraine and Paula Meredith. An educational tour of Yak-aand Wenatchee, Washington and Summerland, British Columbia, was enjoyed five days of the past week by Craig Way-ma- n, David Tolman of Honey-vill- e, Dr. Gaylyn Ashcroft of Logan and Joseph Barlo of Provo. The purpose of the tour was to study orchard heating systems and other horticultural practices. Mr. Glen Cowan is a patient at the LDS Hospital inSalt Lake. Snow College. Mr. and Mrs. Abner Baird witnessed the marriage Sept 9, of their grandson, Robert A. Baird of Orem to Maureen of Raymond, Alberta, in the Cardston Canada, Temple. The trip was made with Mrs. Robert A. Baird Sr., Ann Baird, Blaine and Bryant Baird. After the marriage, dinner was served in the Raymond Stake Center to seventy five members of the two families. That evening a reception was held in the Stake Center. The young couple will make their home in Provo where Robert is attending the BYU.
