The course will be given at the American Legion Hall and will be given each Thursday night beginning at 7 p.m. George Olsen will be the instructor. The class is for all boys and girls who will be 12 years old by October. Under the new Fish and Game law, a 12 year old can hunt pheasants. The business and special gifts drive will be conducted April 10 to 20 and the residential calls will be made between April 17 and 30. Payson was recently hit by vandals who were shooting out street lights and windows. Most of the street lights were shot out during the past few months. Last week, most of the windows at Burdick Lumber Company were shot out. The windows at Burdicks were shot with pellet and BB guns. Street lights however, have been shot with 22 rifles. In most cases, Chief Ammon Lance reports, the damage has been done by juveniles shooting from a car. Chief Lance warned, Parents if your boy has a gun, teach him it is against the law to shoot it in town. The Police Department will arrest anyone who violates this law. The Payson Chapter, Future Farmers of America, was well represented at the 39th annual state convention held Mar. at the Terrace Ballroom ril 1 in Salt Lake City. Also attending were the FFA Sweetheart, Linda Childs, and her attendants, Donna Seat and Lynda Powell, in addition to Clara Johnson and Ben Leatham of the faculty of the Payson High School faculty. Dee Thompson, state president, conducted the meetings. Speakers included Gov. Calvin Ramp ton, Joseph Kjar, vice president and general manager of KSL; and GarySwan, national FFA president. The City Building Inspector shall prepare an itemized statement of all expenses incurred in the removal and destruction of same and shall mail a copy thereof to the owner demanding payment within twenty days, of the date of mailing. Such notice shall be deemed delivered when mailed by registered mail addressed to the last known address of the property owner. The ordinance also states further various means of compelling payment, by lawsuit or by inclusion in the tax notice of the property owner. Other cities in this area have drafted similiar ordinances and are accomplishing the cleaning up of their city. It is hoped by the Beautification Committee that this ordinance will not have to be invoked, but if necessary to benefit our community, it will be enforced.
