Show The Payson Chronicle, W Payson, Utah THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 1957 PETEEINEET SCHOOL NEWS Mrs. Cowan's First Grade Vicky Dibble has measles. Stephen Partridge is back from having them. Lemuel Harsh has his cousin visiting him from California. Deona Jacksons grandfather died. Rose Marie Bowen found an injured pigeon that we cared for. Peggy Ann Knapp brought two baby pigeons from home one day. Mrs. Hill's First Grade Our room motheis brought Uj in an Easter treat. We saie liked it. We are going to write to them and thank them for the nice Easter treat. Mr. Leon Lines came down fiotn Salt Lake City and talked to us about Safety. He brought a safety film with him. We en-- I joyed it very much. We wrote to him and thanked him for the helpful safety rules he left with us. Gregory Cloward, Gary Riches and Brent Hill have the measles. We are busy writing to them. Richard Openshaw had a birthday Thursday. We wrote a letter to him thanking him for the tv j 1 ; : J i i I ; nice treat. Second Grade News We are very happy this week because we won the P.T.A. attendance prize again. We have won three times this year. We help our parents so they can come to P.T.A. They like to help us too and come. More than half of our class had polio shots this week. We were all brave. We have had three birthdays: Peteetneet PTA Motes NEA At Centennial Party April (9th The Peteetneet School P.T.A., home room mothers, faculty, school personnel and partners celebrated the centennial anniversary of the National Education Association Friday evening, April 19, at a party held at Dons Cafe. Mrs. Merle Lundell was in charge of the dinner, La Mar Wilson was chairman of the program committee, Mrs. Dean Hill, was chairman of the decorations, and Principal Jesse Peterson acted as master of ceremonies. All members were attired in Easter hats of their own creation. The program was furnished by children of the schools as follows: accordion solos by Susan Taylor, a vocal solo by Mary Barbara Cowan, a clairnet duet by Sandra Jean Hill and Sidney Barron, a reading by Lynda Ivory, a vocal duet by Connie Dean Elmer and Karen Elmer accompanied by their father. Owen Elmer, and a vocal solo by Wayne Ainge. Tommy Tcrvart, Steven Bjam-s.Jasette Jinkins. We have had some pets at school. Josette Jinkins brought a tame field mouse and Randy Vest brought a large turtle. Fifth Grade News Our class is very proud of Joan Sudweeks in her dancing. She won a trophy at the Kiwanis Club Talent Show. We are studving the North Central States in our social studies class. Yesterday fe wrote 'etters to the capitals and important cities. We enjoy study-m- g these states. This week was safety week. Each room drew posters on safety. Men came Friday to judge the posters. Two out of each ocfmthnt has the best poster will mt a certificate. g This week our school was to have Pentathlon, but the weather was bad so we will have it next week. The three winners will do down to Junior High School to the try outs. We hope some of the boys in our room will get to go. Sixth Grade News Mr. Wm. Richard Horton came to the sixth grade April 8th. He talked to them on how names are arranged in the telephone He had them write a book. .tor.v and ue the Encyclopedia. He represented Marshal Field the fourth richest man in the United States. He came back Tuesday, April 16, and gave each pupil a badge that says We Never Guess. We Look It Up. When he comes back he says he will give a surprise if the boys and girls are wearing their badges. April, 11 was Clean Up Day at the Peteetneet School. Each room had a section of the school grounds to clean up by themselves. The chairmen of the clean up committees for the sixth grade were, Stephen Seeley, Randy Staheli, Steven Crane, Betsy Ann Robertson, Mary Lou Peery and Jean Stade. The sixth grade did the section south of the building. They picked up more rocks than any of the other grades. Mr. Bowen came with trucks and hauled away the rocks. The hill looks much better now. Mr. Leon Lion showed two movies on safety to the fourth, fifth and sixth grades April 19. Jimmy Cricket was the star in the first movie IM NO FOOL. He showed the boys and girls how to cross the roads famely. The second movie was about driving your bicycle with the same rules as driving a car and rules for riding in cars. Editor Stephen Seeley.
