and learned a great deal about people and service As a we have laced some louph issues: commission t onmp ordinances walei iiplils law jail sen ices tiallic increases Inidpet illepal dumping stiay animals a growing senior population public health mental health loiest mads wilderness issues loss ol logging mdustiy loss ol a mining operation the Nanows hoecl the pliraim Canyon Koid Pioccl the Pretty Shield Proiect county tax me leases and an ever increasing population pixt to name a lew There have been at least two sides to each of these issues which is why we have tried to woik openly with the citicnx Each lime we have clone that some people have walked away liustialed 01 disappointed that things didn’t end up in their lavoi but truly believe that no one left feeling that they had not been heaid If that is not the case then sinceicly apologie bvery resident ol this county has the light to be heard and respect that light One ol the reasons feel that we have been successful is because of the inhumed and concerned citiens have been amaed at the knowledge ol those who have attended our meetings especially mn public heatings am in awe of the volunteers who serve tirelessly in behall of the county in many aspects Numerous committees and service districts and boaids aie tilled with caimg and dedicated individuals who do their very best to serve us want to thank each of them and am have had to serve grateful lor the opportunity with them and learn from them Another reason for our success is the spirit of cooperation that exists from town to am grateful lor the city governments town and then leaders for their countless hours of cuts landfill wrvicc in behalf of our citiens Many of our will never know or understand all of the work that it takes to run our cities and their citicnx Reward ojfered for sled governments A third reason for our success is a result of the dedication of our county officials managers and employees Each of them goes beyond the call of duty in their service and it has been a great example and motivation to me I am thankful for each of them A fourth reason for our success is a result of our state and federal government representatives who serve our county to the best of their abilities have enjoyed working with them ible Flyer sled between Nephi and Scofield and it was lost We put up signs but have not yet heard anything Accolades as student body Manti High School Freedom close by again saying thanks to the of Sanpete County for having afforded me the opportunity to serve I apologie to anyone have offended while serving in this can honestly say have tried my capacity best to help mold Sanpete County into its idlest potential My dad always taught me to leave things better than found them and I have really tried with all of my heart to do that with our county We have a long way to go but believe we are headed in the right direction May God bless Sanpete County and its citizens Thank you Sanpete County and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all the high school production of ‘‘South Pacific” and the songs elementary’s production of wonderful caring teachers who are striving to keep art alive in our small community Chiixtmas songs and carols The students in every case are piivileged to be taught by Chad and Julie Watson Gunnison ED)C 2® He was always so friendly Of and courteous to everyone think some of us girls course had a secret crush on him (he was also handsome!) him as Leslie remembers someone w ho appreciated his craft le poured and finished the the Manti ligli School ten president of about for my graduation ceremonies older siblings or older ft tends oband then finally my own served prayers oflcicd by minisin the ters with congregations noticed that one community year it was the Presbyterian minister who was asked to pray the next year it was the Methodist minister the next year the Episcopal minister and so on had no problem with this practice and no one else had a problem with it either It did not matter that one particular church might not be represented by the one offering the prayer The prayer was to God and e eryone accepted this practice without complaint After all we had freedom of religion in this country and we had religious tolerance towaid others Our liberal courts have since snowflakes snowmen elves Santa Claus the hustle bustle and excitement of shopping in the city I could not help but notice that Christ was conspicuously absent from this Christmas program Oh I know about the separation of church and state do not have a problem with that do have a problem with the secularists throughout the country who have expanded the meaning of “freedom of religion" to mean “freedom from religion” was disappointed that did not hear even one of the Christmas carols love so much I was raised in a community in another state Each year as I attended high school 2SD The HoogMosteller Family Nephi nis court He was so pleased and satisfied with it he sent himself a personal letter of thanks We are proud to know you Coach Braithwaite! Leslie and Jean (Buchanan) Larsen Gunnison from religion? Last evening sat in the bleachers of the Manti High Schixil gymnasium attending the elementary school Christmas program entitled “Keeping Christmas” observed happy children moving freely to the catchy beat of the music and enthusiastic parents clapping energetically a( the end of each song listened to citiens And we hope to create more with it There is a $50 reward Please call (435) for Wilbur Brail Inca ile Congratulations to Coach Wilbur Braithwaite! Just one more accolade to add to his list of many accomplishments remember Wilbur in high school playing tennis and basketball but mostly I remember him and learning from them believe our success is because of Finally three dedicated honest and hard working individuals with whom have had the privilege to serve: past Commissioner Eddie Cox and Bruce Blackham and current Commissioners Claudia Jarrett What an honor it has been to associate with these incredibly talented and committed individuals They emulate integrity honor moral character and exemplary leaderhave ship m their duties and responsibilities learned so much from them and feel blessed to call them friends It is this association that I will miss most of all probably won’t miss the phone calls the hate mail or the anonymous letters but I will miss serving alongside these three individuals Thanhs for wonderful caring teachers We would like to thank the great teachers of the Gunnison Valley We have attended the middle school production of ‘‘The Music Man" also their annual Christinas musical concert It does have our family names on it it reads: Bracken Hoog We are hoping a hunter found it this fall It belongs to a little boy goand ing through chemotherapy because it is big enough to hold two it holds special memories hope you will run this letter and help make a Christmas wish come true This last spring we were transporting an old Flex- 30 effectively legislated Jesus Christ out of our public schools not only His teachings but also Christ from a historical standpoint (Neither Christmas carols nor nativ ity scenes are allowed) The courts have not overlooked Old Testament values (The Ten cannot be disCommandments played in our public schools) Since the greatest moral in recorded history teachings have been removed from public education is it surprising that we have a few problems among the youth of our country? Two hundred years ago teaching from the Holy Bible was the foundation of education in public schools in the United States Our Founding Fathers intended this to be so and this is recorded in their statements Now that we have freedom from religion in our public schools we are free to thoroughly enjoy the fruits thereof in our children and in our society will not describe those fruits but if y ou have eyes and ears you have seen and heard them Study of the histories of Greek and Roman cultures reveal significant moral decay prior to the fall of those civilizations What will our future bring?
