Sanpete County Commission meeting April 17 2001 Darwin Fisher with the Oaker Hill Subdivision Phase Three was on the agenda to have his plat map signed for the go- - ahead on his subdivision He said he had done everything and met all the requirements asked of him by the Commissioners The subdivision will be a seasonal subdivision meaning people will only be able to live in their homes for half of the year There was a misunderstanding of how much water Fisher had purchased and needed for each lot In the beginning it was not fully explained or understood how much water was being planned for each lot Now the Commissioners faced with finding a solution for this problem Like the first two subdivi- are sions this one will be seapeople are living two subdivisions year round and there is not enough water for people to live on the new subdivision year round "So how do we keep the people from living in their homes year round" asked the Commissioners and Attorney Ross Blackham Blackham suggested that a solution could be to require Fisher to educate people that when they purchase property in the subdivision that the water is limited When the subdivision has exceeded its water rights no more lots can be sold and the people who own lots that sonal but in the first have not built homes yet may not build their homes until everyone has bought more water This way the pressure is put on the developer and the buyers to enforce the covenants of the seasonal use Fisher needed to talk to his partner and get back with the Commissioners In other business Sheriff Claude Pickett asked for the approval to purchase four new radios for the jail and one new radio to replace an old one for the patrol officers This item was approved Pickett also was concerned with funds for setting up DUI Patrols The funds are reimbursed by the state but he doesn't know if the money is being put back in his budget and the original budget is not set up for this program The Commissioners said they will see that he gets the money and wilL automatically budget for this program in the years to come Students will be paying class for driveffective May 15 2001 This deci$20 sion was made during the regular education program budget In the past the driver education classes have always averaged 30 to 35 students each The School District paid teachers $25 per student up to 30 students($750 $184 $934) per class taught They did not teach during the summer The 2000 legislature passed a law requiring driver education schools to guarantee students the classroom portion of driver education before they are during the regular school year and in the summer to approximately 23 The driver education teachers are unhappy because they have received about a $175 cut in pay per class To compensate for this additional burden on the budget other school districts in the state raised the driver education fee The old fee was $25 per student and will be raised up to $45 per student This way the teachers will be able to be payed by the hour and not the student which will make it fair In other business the school district will be enforcing existing dress codes in all the schools Many of the kids are not following the proper dress code It was suggested that perhaps the students and parents need a little reminder Wearing apparel should be clean and modest Hair should be clean and Avoid extremes in
