received a check for $225000 from The Church of Jesus Christ of Saints for use in providing adequate services for the increased number of homeless people in Salt Lake City during the winter months The check was presented by Bishop H David Burton presiding bishop of the Church to the staff and volunteers of the Travelers Aid Society Travelers Aid operates the Salt Lake Community Shelter and other services for individuals and families whoare homeless including the Family Community Winter Shelter where the presentation took place Caring for the poor and needy is a scriptural injunction Bishop Burton said and the Church adheres to that injunction through its welfare services system for members and its humanitarian aid program for those of other persuasions throughout the world This
