science projects handled better than this testing!” he said “The Division tells ps that the decision would only affect the Wasatch F ont area but 60 of our road salt goes to that area We have the Utah contract for road salt - and have 10000 tons of salt ready and waiting to be used on the roads this winter!” said Bosshardt Another concern is that if the decision is U9e white salt only was made for the Wasatch Front it could later spread to be valid all over the state “We’re not giving up yet - it could still go our way” Bosshardt said A hearing will be held tomorrow Thursday in Salt Lake City and a decision will be made which will affect the future of Redmond Gay and Salt drastically The company had its beginning back in the 1950’s by brothers Milo and Lamar Bosshardt Since their retirement their sons Ronald Neal and Jay have taken over the business A new facility was put into place in the last few years and there are now 40 employees since General Deer Season opens this Saturday LaylnalQM This little buck was laying low last week However this weekend deer hunters will head for the hills in search of deer just like him Hunters that have hunted during the General Deer Season in the past may be waiting for the muzzleloader hunt to use their deer tag because of changes in regulations this year t Many Hunters Remain Confused about changes in the 1993 deer hunt The new “choose your hunt” strategy means that a hunter may hunt only one deer season this year For example if a sportsman hunted during the archery season he cannot hunt during the In like manner a rifle rifle or muzzleloader seasons hunter who hunts between O ctober cannot hunt season For the first time this during the muzzleloader year there is no tag attached to the big game or combination license All deer hunters must purchase a license plus a deer tag for the big game or combination season they wish to hunt Party Hunting is illegal in Utah yet some hunters continue the practice where one person harvest game for another hunter Division of Wildlife Resources conservation officers are cracking down hard on party Both the party hunter who shoots a big game hunting animal and the person who tags it will be Issued citations The law says that one doing the shooting must be the one whose name appears on the tag Think Safety First - Hunters are reminded to heed loaded firearm restrictions Avoid carrying a loaded firearm in or on a vehicle Shooting from on or across the highway is a safety hazard and prohibited by law Step away from your vehicle before you load up and empty that gun before you get back in Let's keep hunting a safe sport! Field Dressing game - The way game tastes often depends on how well the hunter treated his animal in the field The secret to good meal is to eld dress the animal Three things will cause the meat quickly and cleanly to spoil dirt heat arid moisture Keep the meat clean and cool and keep it away from insects and hot moist areas On a hot day it’s best to get your animal to a cooler as fast as possible even if it means driving off the in your group has been mountain before everyone On mild days try to keep the meat cool by successful hanging it in a shady cool place Placing your game in a cheese cloth bag and sprinkling it with black pepper can help control insects Game spoiled in the field won’t taste good on the table no matter how well the cook treated it 7 Continued on f page "Meet Your Candidate" Night set for October 25 Meet the Candidate Night will be held in the Gunnison City Library October 25 at 7:00 pm Gunnison Valley Lions Gub wil sponsor the evening This meeting for you to meet and talk to the Candidates will be for all candidates running in this upcoming Please plan election throughout the Gunnison Valley to attend and bring you questions and support for the candidates |
