Registration and sign up will be held on May IS and 16 at the Big Gym from 5:00 to 6:00 pm In the past over 55 boys have attended this camp every year All boys that will enter the 7th grade or higher are welcome to attend The cost for the clinic is $3000 Basketball Fundamentals break down offense and defense that is used at Gunnison will be taught will Awards games and be included Coach Danny Hill High School In school board action on May 8 Donald Hill Wednesday was announced as next years principal at Gunnison High School with an opportunity for Principal Lynn McAurlhur to move into the distinct office About thirty five concerned citizens were present at the meeting and were able to ask questions about the need and decision for the change A letter from the majority of the staff at the high school was also presented recognizing the job that McAurlhur has and is doing at the high school to Superintendent According Lewis Mullins several in the group asked why McAurthur was fired question of why the change the board explained their involvement with numerous community citizens that were concerned about several issues at the high school and after weighing these concerns felt it would be better for the school if there were a change Mullins explained later that he felt this question was never answered to the satisfaction to those at the meeting but that the present board felt good about their decision after weighing the evidence on both sides The public present also asked if the board had given Lynn McArthur due process with an orderly dismissal and they answered that McArthur was willing to leave There was some concern that McAurthur was accused with being in disciplining inconsistent at the A student present at the school meeting stated that he felt that some students learn a lesson with a less severe punishment while others won’t learn with the most severe “I think he is perceptive Others see it as a problem” Mullins added later that the change came as a surprise to McAurthur with most of the discussion about the topic coming in the last thirty days He also said that the board had been contacted by a wide variety of people and based their decision for the change after hearing both sides “They genuinely felt it would be better for the school to make the change” he said Donald Hill served as principal at the Manti High school this past year Mullins
