Spring has its mirages and radiance and allurement, but so, too, has autumn its fragrance and intensity and color. Dawn in October does not come at any disgracefully early hour, it waits until tho world is stirring; then it unlolds itself, not with glory and llagrance as of spring, but with quiet and restraint, as if sought to appeal to sober maturity. Its beauty does not force itself; it is simply there in the east, peaceful and serene. October is wiser and more restrained. There are no false promises in her clear morning air no deceptions of a world about to be remade. In the paling amber of its crystal skies tlicie lies an assurance that can never be felt out of spring or summer or winter. This assurance, stealing quietly into the heart, does not deal with springs fabulous rebirth and resurrection. It cuts deeper than that. It s ushers in winter and the cold of undying night. But we know that is not a sham. We have seen October dawns and the threats of win ter only carry the promise of another spring, another summer, and another autumn. To me the softness of whiteness of winter will ever be beautiful. The crispness of its cold air only makes it clearer and purer. Its bitter winds make the glowing fires seem nuiro cherry and warm. But always will I welcome the coming of spring because of its sunshine and flowers and whispering breezes. The heat of summer can never be more than a peaceful laziness of droning silence. It is then that the sunsets are crimson and gold and the canyons are filled with misty haze. Autumn will always be a picture of grandure and color that or.ly oni m -- sooNt) - rani-part- artist can depict. the And this, folks, is my philosophy of life. I have learned that the lesson of living is to always be satisfied with everything. My cherished ambition is that niy vision may always be eternal enough to see beauty in things that others cannot perceive. Whether we see beauty in color, or the majesty of nature, or in a hope or an ideal, or in the mellow glow of an evening sunset, it is nil the same. For aftei all beauty is nothing more than satisfaction, and if we will see beauty in everything we will he magnified into living lives that even the sterness of reality cannot pierce. are And so, if the autumn two comm winds the or winter biting to chill, or even if the summer .lavs are dry and hot. remember that aui umn skies are always clear and bright that winter snows are always clean and pure, and that summer hroer.es are always cool and fresh.
