Show angel of death reaps harvest Harv last saturday evening mrs harriet PuI wright was called home borne to rest aber a lingering illness of many w eks her trouble being a general breakdown after living a long useful life she was the wite wife of the late ephraim wight and has been a pioneer ln in the development of brigham city being among the early settlers in this city and her life has been one of doing good to others and the promoting of every worthy cause tor for the welfare mrs ira wight was torn dorn april ath 1841 at island grove sangamon county illinois and was baptised baptized sed a member of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints when eight years of age in 1852 the family started on the long journey across the plains harriet being then eleven years of age and she walked barefooted most of the way the family came in president howers hewers company on the ath of april 1857 she became the wife of ephraim wight the ceremony being performed at mill creek and that same year she and her husband moved to brigham city she was the mother of seven children six of whom survive her her husband passed away august ath 1902 the children now living are ephraim wight henry wight marvin wight sirs mrs thaddeus Tha adeus wiant marle H guymon and mrs lucinda W jensen there are also 31 grandchildren and 20 great grand children mrs wight was a woman whom everyone who knew loved her because of her gentle spirit and great soul she was an inspiration to her family and all who came under her influence and her home has sheltered many not of her kin simply because of the hospitality pita lity she was bleser with although years had sapped her strength and robbed her of her vitality her passing leaves a great void told in the family and the earcle where she moved impressive funeral services were held in iii tile the second ward meeting house tuesday afternoon at I 1 there was a wealth of floral tributes abarge at of friends and a sublime influence over the services the speakers who bore tribute to the character of the noble woman were bishop blackburn president oleen N stohl bishop brigham wright denmire Den mirk jensen james olsen patriarch H H cordon wm horsley bishop august valentine P J petersen federsen Fe and sister sarahann sarah ann kelly the musical numbers rendered by the ward choir were the hymns found on pages and of the L D S hymn book and between speakers isaac H and C ellas elias jensen sa sang ng sometime well understand the prayers were offered by win horsley and james nelson A large cortege acco panted the remains to the cemetery where the grave was dedicated by bishop thaddeus wight mrs karen hansen of the second ward was called hence sunday evening about 8 general debility being the cause of f death mrs hansen was born june 1834 in denmark she married net nel knudson in her native land and by him had 7 children 6 of whom are now living a son and two daughters in denmark and a pon and two daughters in this city she is also survived by 27 grand children and 6 great grand children in the year 1880 she accepted the gospel as taught by the latter day saints and four years later her husband died she remained in the old country two years after that sad event then emigrated to utah with her son hans who wis was then only nine yeorg years of age some time pre previous to t 0 that two of her daughters daughten r a had emigrated mi to utah in 1890 ane became thi the wife of jens N hansen ot or this city who was wag called by the angel of death a few years later and since that time she has made her home with her son eon hans who ha has scared cared for his mother as a true son eon should she was a quiet woman who minded her owna own business but her heart warmed to those who were in distress and she ahe was always willing to sacrifice her own feelings and comforts tor for the belssing of others she did a world of good that only those directly affected knew anything about and the world was trul truly Y made better by her having lived in it funeral services were held on wednesday afternoon in the second ward chapel consoling remarks were made by bishop blackburn lorenzo W anderson andersen nets nels hansen 11 C president oleen N stohl peter knudson N J valentine and J C gasberg the musical music al numbers were the hymns 1 I need thee every hour nearer my god to thee and shall we meet beyond were marked by a peace ful influence that fitted admirably the phar character acter of the deceased shortly after seven on thursday evening of last week the th e spirit of little W ford the ten months old son of mr and mrs waldemar madsen took night flight for the world from whence it came after the baby had bad struggled less than twenty four hours against the ravages of pneumonia the baby had been failing in health for over two weeks his hia ing upset and the usual remedies haa bad no effect on wednesday he be was no I 1 better though new treatment had been resorted to and so the physician went over its little body to determine it there were other complications ile he found nothing and left the house assuring the parents that their baby would soon eoon be on the mend during the night pneumonia developed and nhen ahen the doctor was called la in the tol fol lowhigh morning he found the babas lungs all but closed by the disease I measures wre wire applied but ae 00 baby grew aird ric 1 l soaker until in the early afternoon t was apparent to all that he be could not last muc much ai longer he suffered greatly and about seven ca alsed used his eyes in peace til sleep from which to he awoke in a better world this thib is the first experience of this kind that has come to the home of mr air and mrs madsen and robbing them as it does of their only son they naturally fiel feel the loss keenly simple but beautiful services were held at the hoile saturday afternoon bishop T H blackburn presiding the speakers were bishop blackburn victor E madsen adolph madsen M L nichols and cemetery tery the grave grava was dedicated by elder isaac A jensen wednesday at a about I 1 frank hamson gave up the struggle aich he be has been making tor for life for or something om ething like three months and passed on to his rest mr hamson was first stricken with typhoid fever ancl ana being very fleshy lie he went thru a very severe siege of that aisea disease but finally conquered the malady after his body had ben lema i emaciated clate dand and reduced to skin and bons bona practically tidally after the fever left him he appeared ap neared to mend rapidly and got alo along far to get out of bed tor for a tim wh teach each day A cough de ar bever ever hirr him end and aa i arp V ras itis is bilotte V ranal ly an al on his ht liades ars ind and he suffered ed greatly until it broke dud and the foreign matter which accumulated was discharged after that he picked up again but only tor for a short time for the last few days pryor to his death he made a gallant struggle to live on and even the night of his passing he fought on and on until the last ounce of strength was exhausted then he sank back and passed peacefully away the physician stated that one of his lungs was completely eaten away by the abscess mr hamson leaf leases es a widow and an adopted son of 12 years old he is the third member of his family to be called hence his only child a son about 12 years of age died a number of years ago then he and his good wife adopted an infant which only lived e d a short time the second child they is now a splendid little fellow a great comfort to his mother mr air hamson was born in this city 47 years ago and has made his home here all his life he was a prominent member of the fire department and was well known in this community community funeral services will be held in the third waid waal chapel tomorrow friday at p m the remains may be viewed at the family residence just across the street from the old third ward school 4 last evening at willard Wll lard fen stauffer the son of mrs verenna stauffer succumbed to the ravages of typhoid pneumonia from which he had suffered about three weeks tile the young man was the hope of his bis widowed mother and a
