Show October 15 2006 Millard County Chronicle Page Progress 5 Delta South Elementary a U""t 0 A— t Hinckley Rodeo Royalty make quilt for the Binky Patrol Members of the Hinckley Rodeo Royalty gathered together recently to make a quilt to donate to the This Binky Patrol organization charitable organization will see that the homemade blanket is given to a child in need of comfort specifically children born H1V infected w ith AIDS or other chronic and or terminal illnesses those w ho are abused in foster care or experiencing trauma of any kind The girls wanted to show their appreciation for the love and support that they received this summer by “giving back" to the community and to challenge all youth groups organizations clubs etc to do the same The Hinckley Rodeo Royalty members include: Kirby Nielsen Jessica Tolbert Teesha Moody and Sammy LaFevre Delta Fire Department Fire Fighters teaching fire 5th Grade Field Trip to the Lava Tubes safety DSES Fire Safety Week Delta South Elementary w as happy to have the Delta Fire Fighters teach our students all about fire safety on Tuesday October 7th The fire fighters taught the students how to react so they could understand what actions to take in the case of a real fire Thank you for taking the time to help us be prepared! 4th Grade Field Trip Grade traveled The Delta South to Cove Fort and Fremont Elementary 4ih Indian State Park on October 2nd At the Fremont Indian State Park the students atlatls climbed down into a pithouse visited the museum and went for a walk to see pictographs and petroglyphs At Cove Fort the students had a picnic and took a tour of the site The 4th grade had a very historic day! threw Museum Program 23 October conference Museum The Great Basin Museum and Historical Society is sponsoring a special program on Thursday 23 October in the Chamber Room of the Delta City Council in the city building starting at 700 PM All are inv ited to this free program and we specially encourage the members of the Great Basin Society to attend this program to be informed of the progress being made in the construction of the new city building that will house the Great Basin Thursday Oct 2nd the 5th graders traveled to the Lava Tubes and the Lace Curtains for an adventure! The students loved climbing in out and through the lava tubes and visiting the Lace Curtains then they were off to Flowed Park for their picnic lunch Correction along w ith a city center and three museums The special program on 23 October will feature a lecture titled “The Valley We Live In” presenting information on the unique Geology of Millard County the history of the great Lake Bonneville and why it drained away and finally some infoimation on w hat created the mysterious Crystal Peak Mountain in the west desert Free light refreshments w ill be served at the end of the program A correction is needed for the playground painting article last w eek Kelson Stephenson painted the kindergarten and lower grade play grounds for his Eagle Project Thank you for the great job!
