a very liny room The present day bedrooms were the classrooms Later rooms were rented to students w ho attended the public school since it was not practical for them to ride to town every day for school The home it constructed of adobe brick The walls are three bricks thick making it warm in w inter cool in summer and insulated fiom the noise of the outside The original ceilings were thirteen feet high but have since been lowered The doorways arc broad and high Most of the windows in the home have built in window seals ' Brigham Tomkinson son William D and his wife Mary I dith Bennett moved into the home They were the parents of six children Nclda lelcn Mildred Tilly Dale and Williams Mildred and 1 illy were twin girls born in the home One lived for twelve days and oilier for fourteen It was February and their little bodies were placed in a back room with the window open until they could be buried Some year ago lelcn and W illiain were interviewed by the Daughters of the Pioneers about their memories of Ihe home They remembered there was no indoor plumbing until 1938 Water was taken from a spigot outside Ihe by Como kitchen window The floor were hardwood which had been sanded but had many knot in it which made it hard to walk on The inside walls were plastered and painted green and blue There was a hcaterola in the front room and an old wood stove w ith a water reservoir to heat the water Recently the present owners have done extensive remodeling to Ihe kitchen and living room New cinnamon oak kitchen cabinet beautiful counter tops and a lowered Meeting with L'DOT this week member of Ihe committee learned that the beginning phase of the light installation is just weeks away If you will notice the white circle with an “X” by them you will be able to see where Ihe lights will be placed n ohinune iquiphinTj An important branch of Ihe committee la the Historical Commission The commission is working to gather information about old homes buildings beautification -
