recovering from electrical accident Knox Huntsman Late in the afternoon on Monday May 20 Brian Wade 31 of Holden had been working on a water pump south of Meadow- and was preparing to go home when high winds whipped a 14000 volt power line which arced with the equipment Wade was standing on Wade received the full thrust of the electricity Damn Rhodes of Howell and Vem Slew art of Meadow were nearby and immediately administered first aid that was credited with sa ing Wade’s life Fillmore's ambulance crew took Wade to the Fillmore Community Medical He Center where he was stabilized was life flighted to the University of Utah 1CU Bum Trauma Center in Salt Lake City “The Life Flight crew checked Brian prior to his flight and were impressed w ith the professional job the hospital staff did on preparing him for his flight" said Wade’s sister Cheryle Payne of Meadow Payne said the first week in the hosfor Wade He pital was was not strong enough for surgery but it was needed for him to 29 cyclists and members from the Journey of Hope 2002 team as they arrived Thursday June 3 at the Delta City Park The cyclists were joined on their trek by Delta cyclists Rob Jeffery Chuck Stewart and Steve Walker Upon arriving at the Delta park the group was treated to a spaghetti dinner by sponsors Ken and Deb Lebbon Following dinner team cyclists performed the nationally renowned puppet show The Kids on the Block for community members The show features disabled puppets pupinteracting with pets to explain disabilities and answer audience questions Cyclists also held a friendship visit at the Delta office of Community Careers & Support Services The Journey of Hope began June 2 as 70 undergraduate members of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity from 32 colleges and universities nationwide left San Francisco to undertake a cycling trip The event mi kS trip It’s a experience and many of us look at it as a type of sion quest It is also a message of hope and makes a difference m the lives of those
