Show r In Memorium K J Carl W Verhaaren Carl W Verhaaren 92 died June 22 in American Fork Utah of causes incident to age He was bom August 25 1908 in Hamburg Germany to Theodor and J Auguste Fett Verhaaren At the age of twelve he and the others of his immediate family became members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints At the age of nineteen he emigrated to Utah where he worked and saved enough to make it possible for the rest of his family to come to Utah a few years later He married KarolineBredthauer Dec 2 1932 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple She died March 1993 He was an educator receiving both Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees from the University of Utah He began his teaching career in 1942 at Millard High School in Fillmore UT and continued as a teacher there for years until his retirement He gained the reputation of being a gifted teacher who had high pectations of both himself and his students He made Fillmore his home until 1996 When he suffered a stroke He was oneof the original founders of the Millard County Credit Union (formerly known as the MEA Credit Union) where for many years he was the 2001 ager overseeing its growth from a handful of members with savings of a few hundred dollars to hundreds of members with savings of several million dollars The significant achievements in his life were motivated by his unflagging faith in and dedication tot he gospel of Jesus Christ and his love for his family He provided lifelong faithful service in various capacities in the Church of Jesus Christ and was a man of integrity courage generosity devotion and great faith He is survived by children: Helen UT Harold Tomkinson Layton (Cynthia) Salt Lake City UT Richard (Laurel) Alpine UT 14 grandchildren 8 brother Werner L Verhaaren Richfield UT the Meadow City Cemetery under the direction of Olpin Fillmore in Mortuary Meadow Stevens Dr Wallace Dr Wallace Robins Stevens beloved husband of Ruth Alene Warner passed away peacefully June 30 2001 at his home Wallace had three wonderful children Randall (Shelly) Roslyn (Gary) and Robyn now deceased He watched with joy and pride as his 0 grandchildren and into lo sweet great grandchild developed 10 1919 in Holden Utah to John Alma and Annie Robins Stevens He married Ruth Alene Warner on June 25 1944 in Camden NJ Preceded in death by his parents brothers Max Evan Jay and Reuben sister Charlotte Stevens Upper Dr Stevens is best remembered for his sweet unassuming totally unselfquiet ish nature He was an honor student all of his academic life and our family war hero U of U and UniverHe attended BYU Science Center sity of Oregon Medical He practiced in Salt Lake City and gave away most of his income and later all of his dental and medical equipment to be used to serve the of the “Joys of his life” followed by another song by Jack Peterson The benediction was offered by Max Martin At the cemetery the bag pipes were played by Andrew Millin The dedication of the grave was offered by Bishop Cloyd Day Andrew Millin also played taps on the bag pipes during the miltary rites which were performed by the Fillmore Unit of the Utah National Guard Compassionate service was
