Show Countv Chronicle Progress Millard July 19 2001 Page 5 Community Events n It Michael Core Pellum - and Mmdi Ta Pellum Core Kfr ft Mmdi Pellum and Michael Core would like to express their appreciation and thanks for all the love gifts they received in celebration of their mamage They were mamed in France in March while she was attending school there on student exchange program They are now residihg in Ventura CA Fillmore City Library takes 1st again! worked very hard painting our 700 animals and Statue of Liberty she provided a lot of inspiration for the rest of the float Thanks to our two drivers and their helpers Our chidren began their day early as they came to the library to get on the float at 8 30 AM so that we could be in line for thejudging by 9 00 AM We had about 50 children and 5 adults on the two separate trailers that made up our float The children were treated to frcccr pops to keep them cool as they traveled the parade route We were successful in w inning the first place ribbon and a check for $25 00 the kids sure love those first place ribbons It was a lot of fun we appreciate the parents who supported us by making sure that their children made it to the parade It was a “hot one" but it was a big success When we started our Summer Story Hour about 4 weeks ago as part of our activity we began making different things to wear on our July 4th float Well needless to say the candy “Icis" didn’t make it to the parade but the headbands Hawaiian skirts and torches made it in good shape as well as animal face masks and Indian headdresses All these things went along with this year’s theme of “Reading Road Trip USA" So far this summer we have visited Hawaii and New York Our float represented these two areas along w ith the Wild W est San Diego Bicycle Scooter Safety and back here to Utah for the Olympics We want to especially thank our helpers Board Member Bonnie Stewart and Jaimi Robison Millard High School Business and Marketing Sterling Scholar who Calvin Wedding Anniversary Calvin and Faye Kesler celebrated their wedding anniversary with their family at ish Lake They were married in the Manti Temple on June II 1951 They made their home at Cove Fort and later moved to Kanosh They have five children Pamela (Lloyd) Robison LaNila (Brian) Robinson (deceased) Kevin (Robyn) Kesler Lloyd (Kathy) Kesler Travis (Sara Kesler 6 grandchildren and Mom and dad you arc wonderful pirents We appreciate the love care and guidance you have given us We love you very much Pellum - By Marian Z Rhodes Dear Aunt Celeste Pellum and Jon Rhodes would like to thank each and everyone w ho came and celebrated with them on their special day and to giv e a thanks and appreciation to all for the lovely gifts that they received to help them begin their new life together Miss Millard Pageant Miss Millard Pageant contestants are busy getting ready for the upcoming pageant to be held on Sat Aug 4 at 7 p m in the Delta Palladium The theme this year is "Hollywood Nights" and will feature SUU’s “Acclamation” as MC's and entertainment The girls have been working hard to prepare by attending many workshops & practices Please come and support Millard County and witness the crowning of Miss Millard 2001 Nell: We had a patron in the other day searching for the answers to several trivia ques- tions Was the movie Planet of the Apes based on a book and if so what is the title9 Who manufactured the first Army jeeps9 What were the last names of Charles J and Frederick Henry that were famous automakers9 This was a prerequisite to the Spnng City Car Show Those guys and gals aren't only into car restoration but brain cell restoration What can say about Story Hour but wild and wooly Last week 37 little dar00 group It lings showed up for the was an all time high They read books about running away and then went out of doors to paint walking sticks Thirty seven years olds wielding saturated paint brushes was a little unnerving Some brushes ended up in the sand there was paint on the curb on articles of clothing and in hair (Some paint actually got on the sticks) I’ve got to check the police blotter to see if there are any reports of missing children that took their walking sticks out on a trial run The 2 00 group played library bingo One of the boys was reading a Bcrenstain Bears’ chapter book and didn’t want to leave until he finished it was near starvation but the book was completed In the vertical display case we are featuring items that have been lost in the Premier Finance has opened a new office in Fillmore Call or stop by to meet our new loan officer Linda Boggess - 9 pm July 28 2001 and things found in returned books We still can't figure out how someone could Icav e the library w ithout their shoes had to make a trip to Salt Lake last week and decided to take along a It was a hard decision but finally Wine by Ray selected Dandelion Bradbury It’s a story that takes place in Green Town Illinois in (he year 1928 It is told through the eyes of Douglas Spalding age 12 and the people that rade through his life One particularly teresting character was Elmira Brown She had tried to unseat Mrs Goodwatcr as president of the Honeysuckle Ladies Lodge for years A position she says Mrs Goodwater had held since the Civil War Elmira claims that Mrs Goodwatcr was a witch and put spells on her so she wasn't voted in (Elmira had only one vote -
