Answer by: Glen O Jenson Utah State University Extension Family end Human Development Specialist Job termination is a family affair When a breadwinner’s job is terminated it affects not only the family income and the terminated employee but the entire family The family has often served as a sounding board for frustration and excitement stemming from activities happening at the workplace When a termination happens the family often feels betrayed because they have given evenings weekends and holiday time to the workplace on various occasions Many socul contacts and friendships may have volved around the workplace In many ways the family has been an unofficial employee To be terminated is a whole family affair Research conducted in Toronto and Montreal Canada focusing on surviving a spouse's termination from work has some valuable insights that families can use should a termination notice come to your family If the terminated spouse happens to be a male the female in the relationship feels equally impacted by the termination However often the assistance to help adjust to termination does not involve her The women included in the Canadian study felt their security hopes dreams and plans had all been assaulted yet often the sympathy went only to the mate who was terminated These women felt isolated and needed support as well as their mates Two big fears surfaced first was the fear of financial insecurity and the second was the fear of being uprooted Being a homemaker or a career person did not seem to impact the fears felt The researchers and others have made the following suggestions for spouses going through their mate’sjob termination Tell the children family and friends as soon as possible Being secretive will only create more stress Do not criticize the former employer in public Future references may be needed Develop a financial plan to stretch resources for as long as possible during the job search Identify a trustworthy friend in addition to family members to confide in Suggestions for the terminated spouse include Communicate openly with spouse about fears being felt Keep spouse informed on progress of job search Listen to your spouse regarding the fears and concerns they have Invite your spouse to offer suggestions for finding anotherjob Tell and show regular appreciation to spouse Friends family and the clergy of someone who has had a job terminated can Call and let the affected couple know you are thinking of them Offer support encouragement and help where possible Help with employment leads Stay in touch on a regular basis WEEK ONLY OFF on Family Reunion W Main (over 50 shirts) behind the Doiimaker The English word alphabet can be traced back through the to the Phoenlclan-Hebrewords for ox ( aleph ) and house (beth) Greek FAITH IN GOD In order to speak faith words out of our mouth we must be planting the Word of God in our hearts by reading the Word of God In Matthew it says “ O generation of vipers how can ye being evil speak good things? Proverbs 423 & 24 tells us “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard for out of it flow the springs of life Put away from you false and dishonest speech and willful and contrary talk put far from you Amplified Bible” We must guard our hearts because what ever is in our heart will come out of our mouth And did you know that when we speak words that are contrary to the Word of God we are speaking false words dishonest speech and willful and contrary talk? Do you know that what ever we allow to go in our ears and eyes goes into our hearts? What are we putting in our hearts? What ever we are putting in our hearts will come out of our mouths What is coming exit of our mouths? Are we speaking words of faith? Or are we speaking words of doubt fear and unbelief?
