Millard County VeteransMilitary Monument has taken shape this past month The foundation was excavated and the concrete footings poured The wall has been constructed with concrete block reinforced formed and poured The walk was designed with steel and concrete Many volunteers have been working on the wall The veterans from the county have rallied to help the contractors have volunteered their time Dearden Motor provided transportation for the stone that and equipment Last Saturday Commissioner at the entrance will bear the plaque Dearcfen together with many of the volunteers helped construct the forms and poured the walk that night The Search and Rescue Team was called On Memonal Day Commissioner Dearden out to protect the new concrete with the Fillmore several Cemetenes attended and Wayne Jackson National Guard and the Miss Poppy Royalty This was a great opportunity to honor those soldiers killed in action A report was given on the progress and to clarify the requirements for the names to be of the monument and placed on the wall They also reported the success of the asked for donations The Ceremony consisted of the Poppy Royalty placing a cross on the flag pole and the National Guard giving a military salute To meet the requirements for a name to be on the monument the soldier must have served In the Army Navy Airforce Manne Corps Merchant Mannes Coast Guard National Guard or the Reserve and to have lived in Millard County past or present Please check the list in your community Post Office for names spelling and dates of you or anyone you know who has served or is now serving correct names and dates You may add names check for duplicates served Please make these corrections by July 5 The names will be sent to the engraver July 10 The engraved panels and the red sandstone will be installed on the wall and the dedication is currently planned for November 4 2000 Donations are still being accepted to complete the Donations may be sent to attend But the Jamboral is more It is the crowmrg event of a ries of events and programs throughout the 2 years leading up to the Jamboral itself designed to enrich the life of each boy by enriching the unit’s programs and experiences Through neighborhood comand state and national service munity tivities and special recognitions given at the Jamboral itself each boy will gain a vision of his place in society and his sponsibilities to it Through visits to heritage sites and special recognition at the Jamboral each boy will gain greater derstanding and appreciation of his local urd state heritage And finally through completing camping and outdoor requirements with special recognition at the Jamboral each boy ’s experience in the core values of Scouting Leader and unit awards are daughter Ladcll for sending each mother a beautiful corsage W e all had an enjoy and made ice cream sundaes after W'e would like to thank all of the families that helped make this a great success Your
