were ten members at id two visitors present Nestled high in a mountain side east of Meadow stood a large majestic rock Slightly hidden from view by the dense foliage of scrub oak sage brush ajuniper tree and a beautiful red cedar tree Only the very tip was pecking up over the top of some branches as though hoping to be discovered On Sept 21 1999 that beautiful 7 food 9 ton rock that has been carved and shaped by mother nature was taken out of the mountain by Klint Penney and Joe Penney and brought down into the town of Meadow It now stands tall end proud on the northwest comer of Center Street and First East as Meadow's DUP Historic Monument Displayed on the front of this grand old rock is our DUP bronze plaque honin Meadow oring the first woman to settle Janette Duncan This w as mounted on roe k by Klint Penney and Ray Stewart (As were the following two plaques) We are very pleased that Jason Stewart for his Eagle Scout project wanted to place two more town historic plagues on our monument One for the church built in 884 and one for the first school house in 1896 He prepared a cement base for our rock to rest on and w ill landscape the area around it We the daughters of
