Whereas the American Legion the nation’s largest veterans organization 31 million Americans strong during 1994 will observe its 75th anniversary of dedicated service to God and Country in helping to make a difference for military veterans and all citizens in promoting America as a beacon to the world in large part because of its veterans and Whereas the American Legion since its 1919 inception by veterans of World War and later encompassing all wartime era to present veterans has been concerned about the sick and disabled veteran their families the children and youth of the nation love and respect of America a strong national security with a state of the art military posture a resolve to protect and preserve the American Ideals by being involved in world and national issues thereby implementing the Legion’s community service programs in peace by answering the nation's call in timeof war which has been instrumental in keeping this nation strong and free and Whereas during the past 75 years the American Legion and its Auxiliary have contributed to the nation stales and local communities in countless ways from authoring and helping to create the Veterans Administration and continued oversight of its role in service to veterans to programs that benefit America’s youth such as American Legion Boys and Girls State Legion baseball high school oratorical contests on the Constitution Scouting boys clubs financial assistance scholarships etc and Whereas members of the American Legion will continue to serve the state and nation as volunteers in a variety of worthy efforts as benefits to a diverse American public through programs that touch their fellow veterans their families the children and all citizens of Utah and Whereas the volunteer spirit of the members
