Show Millard FLOWELL Virgie Ph 0I Ivie WOOD BADGE BEADS RECIPIENTS Smith President Glen Swalberg and left High to right President Phillip Councilman Lee Tippetts Deseret District Scout Recognition Banquet On March 11 1989 the Annual Deseret District Recognition Banquet was held at the Delta Utah Stake Center Scouters from both Delta Stakes for a night of gathered honor to fellowship good will outstanding leaders inspiration entertainment and patriotism The meeting was opened with a special flag ceremony conducted by Jonathan Barraclough of the Explorers Presidents Association The guest speaker was Rees A Talkner Utah National Park Scout executive who spoke on the part a leader can play in the life of a boy He related experiences from his own life to illustrate this point After Executive Falkners speech the Wood Badge Beads were presented This training award was given to three great Scout Leaders in the Delta West Stake Glen They were President Swalberg High Councilman Lee Tippetts and President Phillip Smith Boyd Parkinson then sang a musical selection composed of two new song the Straight and Narrow Way and Unselfish Heart Tive Scout Leaders were given the Second Miler award which is for services to boys in the District These leaders are Edith Anderson of the Delta 3rd Ward she is presently serving as the advancement chairman on the Scout Committee Robyn R Pearson is a Scoutmaster in the Hinckley 1st Ward Anne W Stoddard is serving as Cub Scout Round Table Commissioner a Scout Advancement Committee member and a Webelos Leader She lives in the Delta 4th Ward Garth Green Garth is a member of the District Advancement Committee and U serving as Ward SME Chairman - Janice Tenney is the District Cub Scput Congratulations Training Chairman Second Milers on your many years of unselfish service Two men in the District this year were given the District award of merit These awards were unique due to the fact they were both presented by the fathers who are also great Scout I ) V SECOND MILERS left to right Garth O Green Janice Tenny Edith O Anderson Anne W Stoddard and Robyn R Pearson award of merit stated that “Dean is a quiet but effective leader He is a home worker church dedicated teacher father and husband Dean is very dependable and he always builds people up He is a good example to the young men He is very honest” These are all characteristics of a great leader Dean was an Eagle Scout and he comes from a scouting family Dean has always been an excellent example of his scouting heritage Several awards were special presented to those meeting the Trevor Stevens received quirements Howard award the Scouters Training Scott received the Scoutmasters Award of Merit leaders This years recipients are Reid D Ludwig who is presently the Deseret District Chairman Reid has 23 Dean Swalberg years of service Finance Chairman and Varsity Coach Leader with 16 years service Reid is a one of a kind leader His greatest accomplishment as he has serv ed our youth these many years is the love he gives to all The respect we have as a District in the Utah National Parks Council is a mark of his competence In leadership there is one fundamental law This is the law of the harvest It says “As a man soweth so shall he also Reid your reap” Congratulations harvest has been abundant Dean Swalberg is also an effective for District leader His application Sutherland Carolyn and John Schwab and family from Salt Lake were here over Easter weekend to visit with folks Rulon and Ruth Jones Congratulations to Sherilyn Johnson for having received a scholarship to USU at Logan in Academic Leadership We wish her well Dan and Lorna Young from West Jordan spent Easter with folks Eugene and Nayon Young here and in Delta with Clayton and Betty Jeffery Garth Green and wife Wendy and family have moved We will miss them Krit and Adeline Petty visited for a short time with Aunt and Uncle Dora and Heber Rose They came from Salt Lake to attend a IPP meeting concerning UP&L They had dinner and toured IPP then returned home Margo and David Wilde Jody and Wade from Croydon Carmen and Melvin Hepworth Cedar City Virginia and Gary Robinson and granddaughter Reagan Orem Michael and Elaine Rose Julie Dale and Jordan Delta grandson Trace Robinson and three sons from Salt Lake were all here to wish father Heber Rose well on his birthday The Delta Utah West Stake was reorganized Sunday Mar 26 Released were Glen Swalberg as President Oran Allred as 1st Counselor and To Phillip Smith as 2nd Counselor take their places are Waldo Warnick Jr as President with Howard Clayton as 1st Counselor and Roland Dutson as 2nd Counselor To replace the Bishops who were put in the Stake were Don Morris in the Hinckley 2nd Ward and Ray Lyman in the Sutherland 2nd Ward Dewane Ekins is 1st Counselor and John Henrie 2nd Counselor in the Sutherland 2nd Ward reads the Chronicle Progress!
