Show LSPS Millard County jDelta City Library News imuAmi m iLLm i a By Marian We need to make a correction that was in the paper last week The date for the Origami Story Hour is on February 12 1988 not on the 13th Don't forget the time is 4:00 We will be making all sorts of fun and different paper items We held our first Preschool Story Hour on Wednesday Feb 3 1988 We had quite a few but would like to have more From now on every Wednesday at 10 am we will have a story hour for all the preschoolers Our first week was on counting and numbers The children found stickers and got some candy This week there is a puppet show scheduled Fun and exciting things are going to happen at the Library for sure yours comes preschoolers-mato take advantage of this program The Big Scrabble Tournament is still on for this Thursday night Feb at 7 pm We still have several openings and hope that you will come in and sign up pronto! We are asking a $200 entrance fee with the winner walking away with some red hot cash Now don’t be shy or an old stick in the mud We need a lot of people to have a night out full of fun All of you scouts that are celebrating Scout Week at this time don’t forget that the Library has a lot of the scout merit badge books that can be checked out for your use Come in and let us help you find the pamphlets that you need to get you to that Eagle Scout rank! Our display of some of our local talent is up and ready for everyone to come in and see Take some leisure time out and come and browse the library for some interesting work We have a new Board member that was appointed a few weeks ago She is Gerry Ogden mother of 7 wife of one husband reader of many many many books We are pleased with the appointment and look forward to working with her The library is selling some books that you may be interested in They are about bulbs lawns deck plans Mexican Cooking soups and stews inexpensive meats and the complete book of picnics to name a few These are being sold for $400 each and the money from the sale of these books will be spent for children’s books If any of these titles strike your fancy come in and purchase them Pahvant Piecers to meet Feb 23 After holidays Piecers terested being on vacation for the and bad weather the Pahvant will be meeting again! Daffodil Days are March 14 through 1988 21 When hundreds of fresh golden daffodils will flood the area bringing a message of spring and hope for the final conquest of cancer The daffodil is the Beverly Day These little girls were not due to make their appearance until April 13 but Momma went into labor Christmas Day and has been hospitalized most of the time since Ann Taylor Bev’s mom has been in Salt Lake with Bev most of that time with Ron’s mom taking turns now and then to spell Ann off for a day or two The little girls were born February 4 and will be named Nichole and Natalie Anxiously awaiting at home is two and a half year old sister Jamie Ann The twins will remain in the hospital an undetermined time These are first time twins on either family tree in a long time Proud grandparents are Stewart and Ann Taylor of Delta and Kenneth and Annette Day of Fillmore Ron Bev and Jamie Ann moved from Delta to Salt Lake in October Ron is employed by Great Basin Trucks He managed in the parts department Big A Auto Parts in Delta before its closure r 4 Fillmore Hunter Gwen : Katie's 4 Friend from Egypt The Salt Lake Tribune review of “A Woman of Egypt” is too brief to let us know what an interesting account of the life of Madam Sadat and her family including the late President Sadat is in her recent book presented copyright 1987 Having met and visited with her in Cairo during the summer of 977 four years before the assassination of the President the book brings back pleasant memories of this outstanding woman She would be outstanding in any country or culture but more so in the Muslim world of Egypt The book which is written in any easy manner makes for interesting reading It was a gift to the library and is now on the shelf of new books If it is gone when you come for it put your name on the waiting list Historical Novel Series There are several writers who have produced series of historical novels about generations of people in the same family Most of these make absorbing reading well researched but of course fictionalized Some of our acquisitions which we recommnd are: Catherine Cookson’s series on “Tilly” (three books) Phillipa Carr pseudo name for Victoria Holt series of English aristocracy-ithirteen books Jean Plaidy’s series on the English royalty in six novels and other writers like Louis L’Amour and his Sackett Series A humorous series we have previousin Dorothy Gilman’s ly mentioned which is Mrs Pollifax adventures delightful and well written Art Exhibit Although the Exhibit was omitted from the calendar in last weeks paper the
