Stories are coming in at a good There are many valuable clip sketches of the first biographical generation of West Millard settlers which have been turned in but in the format of this book stories of asks for geologic proposals The Utah Geological and Mineral proposals for Survey is requesting geologic projects which will encourage of Utah’s economic development resources Proposals are being solicited for specific geological projects from dividuals companies and universities The program is designed to meet some of the needs of the state for geologic information through contracUtah ting outside the UGMS Geological and Mineral Survey Director Genevieve Atwood says "This is a creative way to call upon the expertise within the greater geologic community to add to UGMS’ information data conI75(cM3) servation practices are deductable when they are consistent with a conservation plan approved by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS) The SCS has developed a conservation plan for Millard County This plan identifies 15 of the most commonly used conservation practices Copies of the approved list of soil and water conservation practices are available at the local SCS office located at 88 to extend a box culvert which runs beneath State Route 50 at the junction of US 6 near Delta Fourteen contractors submitted bids on the project Gerber Construction of Draper had the apparent low bid of $35927 The official engineer’s estimate was $49591 The contract will not be awarded however until UDOT officials review the bids to make certain no errors were made and that all requirements were met The project includes extending the existing concrete box culvert on both It is located on the east sides of end of the city of Delta The box culvert carries irrigation water for the East Melville Canal and by extending the culvert it will improve safety at that location Very little traffic interference will be caused by this project The contract stipulates that work must be completed by April 30 in time for the irrigation season to start The project is funded solely from the UDOT Maintenance Fund Bids were opened by the Utah on a Department of Transportation project to replace the Chalk Creek Bridge at 400 North in Fillmore Eleven contractors submitted bids on the project The apparent low bid of $202827 was turned in by Gerber Construction Inc of Draper The official engineer’s estimate was $239863 The contract will not be awarded however until the bids are reviewed to make certain no errors were made and that all requirements were met Chalk Creek currently crosses 400 North in a concrete box which is not large enough to handle heavy flood waters Over the years rocks and debris that continually wash through the box have literally eroded the bottom of it pm For further per animal unit month (AUM) to $154 AUM for those livestock operators using public lands This increase is the results of the changes in the values of the various factors in the grazing fee formula The formula consists of a base value of grazing on public lands adjusted by dices reflecting current year land lease rates cost of production and beef cattle prices Limitations are placed on annual increases or decreases m that they can not exceed a 25 percent change from the previous years fee and not to be lower than $135 This years increase amounts to 14 percent A field Service officer from
