Show USPS s Millard County 349- 520 Thurs Dec 24 1987 - Page 5 Community Event Y 4 Bryan Mission call Heber and Dora T Liesl Finlinson daughter of Reece and Cherie Finlinson of Oak City has been called to serve in the Peoria linois Mission She is scheduled to enter the Missionary Training Center on January 13 1988 Her farewell testimonial is planned for Sunday December 27 at 9:00 am in the Oak City Ward Chapel Liesl has earned an associate degree from Snow College where she has attended the past two years She is currently living in Provo Utah where she is attending Brigham Young University as a major in psychology Rose 60th Wedding Anniversary Heber Rose married Dora Twitchell on October 19 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple This newly wed couple then returned to their home in Clear Lake where they lived and managed Livingston ranch In 1932 Heber and Dora moved to Delta and eventually made their home on a farm in Sutherland On October 24 1987 their children honored them at a gathering at the Sutherland Church Those attending the celebration were children Melvin and Carmen Hepworth Gary and Virginia Robinson Michael and Elaine ' N NEWS we will not serve a meal at noijn on that day Wednesday and Thursday we will eat at 1:00 pm as usual We at the center wish everyone a wonderful holiday and hope all seniors will start the New Year right by joining with us in our various activities Be sure to come to the New Year’s Dance and program Friday January by NaRae Petersen We have had a busy week at the center The members of the Fine Arts Club the DUP and the Fidelity Club have had Christmas parties here and we had our combination birthday and Joan Christmas dinner Wednesday Jensen and Vicki Judkin came to play some beautiful Christmas music for us They certainly contributed to our holiday mood We sang Happy Birthday to our December birthday people and Laurel Johnson was the winner of the flower and vase LaGrande Law didn’t but he is to be conwin anything gratulated on celebrating his 90th birthday He is an active vigorous man and carries his years well We hope he will be coming to the center for a long time Tuesday night Reid Crafts Louise Cropper Tillie Cisneros and NaRae Petersen from the center accompanied Rotary Club members Darrell Lester and Dave Pollard on a trip to Fillmore Meadow Holden Deseret Hinckley Sutherland and Delta to view and judge the Christmas decorations at homes and businesses We rode 120 miles and were impressed with the number and variety of beautifully decorated yards Darrell’s wife Margaret and Dave’s son Mark went along for the ride Mark entertained us with the Christmas songs that he learned in school but he could only get Louise to sing along with him The Rotary Club party was a grand affair Members and senior citizens sat down to a delicious ham dinner and were then treated to a program by the Cloggers Santa made an appearance and since we have all been very good this year I’m sure he will bring us something nice After the program those who wished to go were taken on a tour of Delta and surrounding areas to see the lights It was a very special t K A 4 U Santa Clara California 9 1987 December Wednesday Rochelle Caddie 8 lbs 5 oz (3770 gms) 21 inches long born to Tom and Denise Lovell of Holden Delta Community Medical Center 4:28 Friday December 18 1987 6 lbs 9 oz Jeremy Edward (2977 gms) 1912 inches long born to Delta Karen Jo Lambson of DeAnn Western daughter of Ray and Fayetta Western will be having her missionary farewell Sunday December s 27 1987 in the Chapel at 12:50 pm She will be serving in the Pennsylvania Pittsburg mission During the past two and one half years she has worked as a nanny and then as a nurse’s aid in a cancer research hospital for terminal patients in Boston During this time she developed a great love for the people of the Eastern United States She will enter the MTC in Provo December 30 1987 makes pie crust H Q My rice pudding is always watery What’s the secret? cirt culation with a period of one week Children’s records include over 50 stories and songs Some of these are especially Christmas and others are fairy tales or favorite children’s stories Among the most appealing are: “Shari Lewis and her puppets” with 10 stories Walt Disney’s “Pinnochio” in the voice of Jiminy Cricket “Peter and the Wolf” with Prokofieff’s musical ac“Mother Goose and companiment Father Gander” and "Popeye’s Favorite Stories” There are also many excellent Christmas records of hymns carols and older favorite popular Christmas songs by old favorites such as Perry Como Bing Crosby and group renditions of Christmas music Other records are piano concertos and symphonies along with western and patriotic songs The bulk of these records are from the old Standard School Broadcasts from years ago One surprise record which we just opened is a 1967 record by the MONKEES January Art Show Something different in Art Exhibits will be on display in the Multipurpose On President room during January Millard Fillmore's birthday we will and an Open have demonstrations House celebrating FOLK ART Local artists will be spotlighted and will provide demonstrations One of the most interesting will be a video of Newel Day singing humorous songs This tape was made by the Utah Arts Council Folklore The tape will also be specialists available throughout the exhibit Jan Adult Reading The Adult Reading classes will begin 12 at 5:30 pm January Tuesday Classes will be held for Spanish speaking and for Asian as well as those adults speaking English who wish to have help
