Mortensen have sold their place and home and will move to Salt Lake the Fitzgeralds will move to the Mortensen home In the days and years before and immediately following the martyrdom of Abraham Lincoln many earnest and eminent men expressed themselves concerning his qualifications and contributions to his country From these we read some excerpts First from Fredrick Douglas born to the people whose slavery was at issue As to Lincoln he said “We saw him and estimated him not by stray utterances not by isolated facts torn from their connection nor by any partial and imperfect glimpses caught at inopportune moments but by a broad survey in the light of the stern logic of great events and we came to the conclusion that the hour and the man of our redemption had met in the person of Abraham Lincoln His moral training was against his saying one thing when he meant another” Daniel Doughbury said during Lincoln’s lifetime “The perils of the Republic amid all these events and scenes-tlike a sleeping people drunkard will not award and the evil spirits of the nation with whom fair is foul and foul is fair are dancing around the boiling cauldron of partisan hate yet knowing that in the dred crisis whatever our fate all must share in it alike The people have deceived themselves and have been deceived and partisan leaders have flattered their follies praised their weaknesses and made them believe even fefeats in the field were strategic triumphs” And of Abraham Lincoln “No fair man can questions his personal integrity and patriotic motives” More contemporaries of Lincoln’s who lived and died with the prayer and purpose “That this Nation under God should have a new birth of freedom and should not perish from the earth” SUTHERLAND Dora Rose Ph: Eugene and Nayon Young made a trip to recently returned from Vi years in the mission field in Little Rock Arkansas On May 31 she reported her mission to Mrs Thanks to a federal court decision some Utah farmers and ranchers may be able to get some of the money they spent for fuel back by applying for a refund from a crude oil overcharge fund administered by the Department of Energy According to an official of the state’s largest farm organization the fund was created as a condition of a settlement between the government and some energy companies and contains at least $15 billion occurred when The overcharges crude oil was under government price controls between August 19 1973 and to 27 1982 According January Thomas E Bingham director of public policy for the Utah Farm Bureau who Federation everyone purchased products refined from that oil is eligible for a refund of at least $80 per fuels and 100000 gallons of greases purchased Depending on the outcome of the pending settlement between the oil companies and the Department of Energy refunds could reach $150 per 100000 gallons he said According to Bingham the Farm Bureau is preparing a refund request form which will allow interested people to take advantage of the opportunity He said the forms will be available to farmers through the Utah Farm Bureau offices in Salt Lake City in the next few days Using the form a farmer will be able to total all of his gasoline diesel kerosene motor oil heating oil propane and grease purchases for each of the years covered by the overcharge settlement Refunds will be availabe for the total gallons of products used on or off the farm and must be applied for by December 31 “Farmers will have to describe how they arrived at each of the yearly figures” Bingham said They “won’t have to provide these records with their refund form but should be prepared to substantiate their fuel use if asked to by DOE officials” Bingham said farmers should not be discouraged if they don’t have the paperwork to back up their claims because the DOE will allow them to estimate by figuring gallons per acre DOE is or use total dollar amounts planning to randomly spot check applications to protect against fraud Adrefund under will be no $15 ditionally issued since it costs at least that much for the US Treasury to process the paperwork Direct refunds from the $15 billion fund apply only to purchases from dependent sources not cooperatives have been reimbursed Farm from a separate fund A few pennies a day gets you a With Phone Care from Contel Bryon Peterson and his family have moved from Alaska They have had a new home
