There’s January gone! Seems as though we just celebrated Christmas and New Years Where does the time go? Well back into the old rut Let’s get going on some trips or try to come up with some new ideas Robert Townsley receives promotion Darlene Fowler responding to therapy community unites to help Physical therapists at Holy Cross Hospital ate optimistic that Darlene owler will be able to regain much of her normal with proper activity ichabilitation Darlene was in a coma lor three months after suffering a carabdominal diac at rest following sui gory She is now alert but barely able to communicate She has joint contractures and all of her daily living activitcs are done for her Darlene’s mother Colleen “Pete" Davies says she has been told by the therapists at Holy Cross Hospital that she has the potential to regain up to 80 percent of her normal activity Her ability to do so however depends on how long she can remain in therapy Datlene's insurance benefit limitations have already been exceeded and rehabilitation costs are expected to run between 54000 and S5000 per month But the community has united behind Darlene in an effort to help her on the road to recovery Recently a group of friends and family came together to hold a benefit dinner in Darlene's behalf Linda Davies and Susan Ferguson have headed the 'event known as the Darlene Scheduled Benefit Western "Iodine" for Saturday Februaty 7 at Fillmore Robert William Townsley son of Matt and Lee Townsley of Fillmore set up in Darlene’s behalf at First Security Bank under her husband’s name Harvey Fowler Contributions can be made directly to the account by anyone who wishes to give a hand The friends and family of Darlene have set an initial goal of raising $20000 to help pay for her rehabilitation But this is just the start Darlene needs to learn to walk again to talk again to do all of those things that so The many of us take for granted longer she can stay in rehabilitation the more progress she will be able to make But it can be done if she is given the support she needs If the community continues to rally around Darlene as they have so far it may make the difficult road to recovery a little easier for Darlene Anyone who would like to give their assistance is invited to contact Linda Davies or Susan Ferguson Darlene “Iodine” Western benefit Feb The Darlene “Iodine” Western Benefit set for 6 pm Saturday February 7 at Fillmore Elementary is turning into quite a community event The fund raiser afternoon Three excellent musical numbers by a double quartet from the First Ward was well received by the audience Programs this year have been some of the best in recent years Fine Arts members are urged to circle February 7 for a most special birthday party The program will be given by the Eddie Peterson family a gifted and entertaining singing group They are the family of Vonda and the late Vernon Peterson and have returned “home” many times to share their talents We are very fortunate to have them as our guests for the party on Feb 7 And since this is a Saturday instead of Thursday at 2
