Show Page 2 Due io pipular demand (4 relatives and friend) will attempt to get back to writing a column this week It is easy to quit writing especially in the fall when the weather is getting ugly and the tomato plants freeze and the holidays are about upon one but it is tough to gel back to thinking up subjects and then presenting them in 64 picas or whatever room is left Every year my New Year's resolution is to write - faithfully every week But this year made a different resolution have always to do more things wanted to do but put off and to have more fun want to do Writing is something but being humorous is not always easy to call up on command As round the Cape of Christmas and New Year’s wonder if my creaky ship will weather the storms but as start into the straits of Spring everything starts to look betcan be humorous ter So maybe again have been paying attention to the new discovery that some people require a certain amount of light through the eyes into the biain or they suffer varying degrees of depression thought maybe could use that as an excuse for my nasty attitude as the days get shorter and the nights get longer always thought if one was to have an affliction it would be nice to have an exotic one Just ring up the insurance and say my doctor has company prescribed 5 months in the sunny south send money But I’m afraid my affliction is attitude (hardly exotic actually hate cold and all that vety common) goes with it But even a little January thaw and all the mud that goes with it gives me hope and improves my disposition ED Delta Area Community Calendar And speaking of tomatoes had a volunteer that came up in a flower pot But to back track a little always move all the house plants out in the arbor for the summer something they always look forward to every year This fall when was moving them all back in noticed something that looked like a tomato growing suspiciously along side a Christmas cactus So repotted it into a big pot and sure enough it grew tall and bloomed Now know the role of bees and such if one wants tomatoes so borrowed a can of pretend bee spray and out popped tomatoes We have eaten a few which is a real treat in the middle of winter They weren't as good as remember out of the garden but home grown tomatoes at Christmas is a treat just the same Then a couple of weeks ago the plant got looking real puny a condition blamed on the fog was puny too not seeing the sun for so long But low and behold the tomato had creatures Nasty little devils that layed eggs on the avocado plant and flew around didn’t know whether to order in settled on spray Iadybugs or spray as speed was of the essence but I’m afraid it was too late and the tomato is doomed But the whole explant perience gave me hope and now have all sorts of veggies potted With the reappearance of the sun the house plants have been asking how long it will be before they can go back out in the arbor But we are going to have to have a long talk before they go out this spring There was a lot of last summer and have had more than just tomatoes springing up in with the Christmas Cactus and I’m not talking about weeds BUT HE® l t Jvllery 1986 23 -
