Show I'ae 4 - Millard limits ( I SB's Letters Ihurs 26 Stpl 19X5 Dear Editor: Dear Editor: continued from 2 page Dear Editor: Certain areas of Della hae made considerable progress in upgrading their general appearance however cerwould like to tain areas have not comment on the people that seem to have no pride in their property or in this our city ot Delta feel that it is that certain areas are inappropriate allowed to remain in a condition that would be more appropriate on a farm or even a junk yard feel that we the people ol Delta should take more pride in where we live believe that Delta could maintain its rural charm and upgrade the public or residential eyesores at the same time! Since these eyesores have not changed for 20 some odd years it is apparent that they will not change on their own accord Therelore believe that our city legislature should pass a stricter zonlaw that would encourage the ing citiens of Delta to take more pride in our community would like to suggest the following: Instead of higher property taxes for those people who have maintained a high standard of upkeep a proposed "tax break” and for those who wish to avoid upkeep a "tax increase” or line In my opinion people ought not to be taxed moie lot their elloits but be rewarded instead believe the tax increase and oi fine would be all the initiative needed to make Delta a more beautiful and desirable place urge our city council people to consider my proposal Robert I dwards Dear Editor: think that there should be a “funnies” page in the Chronicle Progress” Some people like to read the comics think that it would add a lot to the newspaper don’t think that they need to be think that once a printed everyday week would be enough if you didn’t want to print them everyday think it would be great to have a comic page Iori Kvers Dear Editor: would like to thank all the people that came and supported the volleyball team As a member of the team can say we need the support! We can really tell when someone is yelling for us It really helps Andrea Henrie Why isn’t there a comic strip page or section in the Chronicle Progress? mean many other newspapers have them so why not the Chronicle Progress? Is it because there isn’t any artistic or funny people in Millard County? hope that’s not the reason beacuse am aware of a few people that draw comic strips for themselves Would’t it be possible to contact these people and put their talents to use to benefit us all? feel this is possible and can find no reason to not have this addition to the For those who Chronicle Progress shall explain my question my idea motive It is simply this To some of us the comics offer the only source of entertainment in the paper Some people gain entertainment by reading the front page or the sports section to me it’s the comics would appreciate your on this subject acknowledgement Ben Hyde Dear Sue: Dear Editor: am writing this letter because it is an assignment but while have your attention was wondering how can you print all that paper and sell it for only 25 cents? Jason Willoughby I'm writing because feel Delta City can't get it’s priorities straight just found out Delta city won’t let there by any football or soccer practices in the park Not only that they have been trying to stop people from in the park also "Hackying” What want to know is who's park is it anyway? Everybody who's parents pay taxes should have the right to use the park They say that these activities tear up the lawn but why have they waited so long to stop these activities They’ve been practicing there for years The it's a dog way the park is being un now lane for tourists think the city should the situation and change the rules Rob Bringard Dear Editor: think that there should be a write up on the fact that Delta is not going to be allowed to have a stop light think that we need to let people know where our county stands And that we aren’t going to ever get a stop light unless people start to speak out So think there should be an article about the stop lights in the Chronicle Progress Jamie Wood Kiwanis canyon party 14 On Saturday evening Sept members of the Delta West Millard Kiwanis club and their partners and guests met at Oak City Canyon where they enjoyed a delicious hamburger fry with all the trimmings It was a very enjoyable eening and Be canyon is really pretty this time of war and Bob Iliorpe Waddingham Moody cooked the meal over a fire made with greasewood They were delicious Present were members: Dennis shbrook and Sue Dutson Thorpe and Norma Waddingham Jack and Phyllis Nelson Doyle and Pearl Topham Robert and Inez Moody Willis and Don and Joan Charlotte Morrison Bird and Milden and Arprilla Scow Guests were: Linda Waddingham and Bill and Marilyn Bishop MHS CLASS OF ’51 PLANNING REUNION LOOKING FOR FORMER CLASSMATES The Class of Millard High School 1951 is planning their reunion for July 5 1986 in Fillmore They are looking for information on the followJack Brunson ing classmates: Joy Wade Dewsnup Albert Billington If anyone has and Robert Day information on the above names 521 please contact Lynn Davies Taft CA 93268 or Alpint Ave Marlene Whicker PO Box 46 Fillmore Utah 84631 To All Members of the Class of 1951 Millard High School: Keep July 5 1986 open plan your vacation be sure to be there! we Altar Society Trudy Bond Paul Smith wedding Meadow Ward Cultural reception Hall p m White House Conlerence on Small Business Salt lake Hilton lie St John Bosco Altar Society has dated the first Tuesday of every month loi the regular meetings The next one will be on October at 7 pm in the I liurch Hall Debbie kncovich has offered to each one can a that duect craft project make and take home that evening after the shot! business meeting ladies of the parish are inv ited to u'nie and enjoy the “make and take” pioicct along with refreshments is this school coming to when accept a scoreboard trom coke so (inly that coke can by sold for six years We have the right of choice but now we can't choose we can only have coke What if we want something else you must go somewhere else Rob W right From page 2 What Oct 19 Christmas Crafts Baaar American legion Hall in Fillmore Oct 5 Vachree Dowsakul Ted Shank wedding reception following noon wedding at St John Bosco Catholic Church Delta Oct 16 items due to Fillmore Donation I ibrary for Christmas Baaar Tillmore ibrary 7 pm seeks Snow College nominations for Citizens Award didate be an alumnus (alumnae) of the school He or she could be supportive in other ways (ie encouraging family members and others to enroll at Snow supmaking financial contributions porting school activities etc) The age of the person should not be a determining factor can be Letters of recommendation mailed to Doris Larsen Public Information Office Snow College The date Utah 84627 Ephraim for nominations is September 25 1985 named to review The committee nominations and make a recommendation to the President welcomes nominaarea and tions from the urges support of this worthy endeavor Snow College is seeking nominations area from residents of the Juab of Millard Piute Wayne Sanpete and Sevier for someone to receive the annual Citizens Award from the college This has been an ongoing presentation made each year at the annual Homecoming Alumni Banquet The banquet will be held on October 26 this year The time and place w ill be advertised at a later date The following criteria has been set: The person should be an outstanding citizen in hisher community andor state Having Snow College “tics” is not a requirement Also it should be noted that association with Snow College does not necessarily mean that the can mmmm a Delta Area n i it Fillmore Area i Bv lav Precp SEPT 13 81 41 14 17 87 85 82 82 18 74 19 60 15 A -
