Gabe Combs portrays the damned Faustus, whose performance and the historical Helen of without minimal speakKiris Wentworth, with ing. only one monologue, nearly attacked the audience in his entrancing performance as Covetousness. The good and dark angels were also interesting characters. Faustus servant, portrayed by Steven Keith, had a dynamic voice welcome added which Troy, is both impres- sive and captivating. His jumps from inclinations to be good or evil were sudden, and pushed the audience to pity Faustus ignorance. Mephostophilis, the servant of Satan, played by Patrick Gamer, was incredible and eery. His performance struck fear into the audience, a sharp contrast to his lighthearted portrayal of Sancho Panza in last seasons Man of La Mancha. Garners icy glare sprang his role from the stage. The minor characters were also intriguing and polished. The seven deadly sins were ominous and acted as a group in addition to their individual performances. Teria Shearer, successfully played the seductive roles of Lechery glimpses of humor. Also, among the high- lighted characters was Jon Savages interpretation of Satan, which was the reflection of evil. All the technical elements were harmonious and magnetic. The sound was abstract, yet essential and appropriate to the production. The costumes enhanced the performance, the highlight of which were the unique of the seven deadly sins. The lighting was also an essential element of the production, the warm red glow generated the heat of the fires of purgatory. The red hues also promoted a heated conflict within the viewers. Though the presenta- - tion was captivating, many scenes seemed lengthy and distracted from the sympathy for doomed character. the the concluding Specifically, scenes, sealing Faustus fate, were rather drawn out, and would have been as effective, if kept more concise. When reading the original script, it is often difficult to follow the plot and dialogue of the characters, but the performed script was effectively cut, and the presentation through all the theatrical elements, made the story clear and entertaining.
