Show The Dixie Sun January 28, 1997 Page 9 Rebel Men top Treasure Valley and Southern Idaho By AMBER FAULKNER THE DIXIE SUN On Friday night, the Dixie College Rebels took on the Treasure Valley Chukars. Dixie's Aaron Henderson had 18 points to lead all scoring and Treasure Valley's Jeremy Killion had 17. DeMarlo s, Slocum had three three-pointer- Justin Bradshaw and Tyler Finlinson each had one. Dixie shot 49 percent from the field vs. the Chukar's 47 percent.. On Saturday night the Rebels faced the Eagles of Southern Idaho. Dixie's great defense was key to the 1 victory. The victory increases Dixie's record to 3 in the Scenic West Conference, and puts them within reach of the first place title. 85-7- 6-- Dixie scored the first seven points of the game but the Eagles came back and led with 2.37 left in the first half. The Rebels then went on a 1 run, giving them the lead at the half Tow minutes into the second half , Dixie's defense came on strong as the Rebels forced CSI into taking sloppy shots. Aaron Henderson, who scored 16 of his game-hig- h 28 points on the second half, led the Rebels in a 23-- 2 run, counting eight minutes off the clock, putting the Rebels up Dixie's defense didn't allow a bucket in six minutes. But the Eagles weren't buried yet. CSI rallied to a 21-- 1 run of their own cutting the Rebels lead from 5 to 33-2- 8 7-- 35-3- 4. 62-4- 3. 71-4- ; CSI then put the game on the line (literally), as Dixie hit Weiring Registry in the straight last minute of the game. Dixie shot 89 percent from the line in the game, while CSI only shot 59 percent. Justin Bradshaw had 17 points, Slocum had two three-poibuckets, Henderson, Bradshaw, Mark Bailey, and Finlinson each added one trey. Dixie shot 50 percent from behind the three-poiline in the second half. Both teams had 24 fouls in the game.
