The predators of me league were out in full force and they were hunting their prey. On Thursday, the Miami Heat Sun The baseball team held its ground on second place over the weekend. The Rebels split two with rivals Snow College and Utah Valley College. The Rebels improved their record 4 to overall. On Friday the Rebels traveled to Ephraim to face the Snow College Badgers. In the first of two. Matt Briggs took the loss for the Rebels as Dixie fell, In the nightcap, the Rebels ace, Jeremy Ross, held the Badgers in check by allowing only two runs. The Dixie sluggers came through scoring 10 runs on 10 hits to win, 10-On Saturday it was billed as the biggest pair of games of the Rebels season. Dixie had a berth in the playoffs on the line as they faced Utah Valley State College at Elks Field. The first game saw the Rebels lead to surrender a seven-ru- n finally fall in the eleventh inning. The Rebels jumped out to a lead in the first inning and then capitalized on that lead in the double-heade- 22-1- turned it up and grounded the Atlanta Hawks, stealing Game 1. However, the Hawks came back to even the g series up on Saturday. But not after we saw the fight of the year. Anytime you see the Barney Fifes come out of the stands to stop the 13-- neanderthals you know there is mayhem. Anybody see Miami guard Keith Askins deck Hawks forward Doug Edwards? Sweet move, Askins, that's more airtime than youve had all year, scrub boy. All it took was New Jersey Nets forward Derrick Coleman to flap his lips and predict a series victory over the bricks. It made Patrick Ewings nostrils flair and thats all it will take for the Knicks to sweep the Nets. The Chicago Bulls are taking complete advantage over the hapless Cleveland Cavaliers. Also, the Indiana Pacers are showing that good guard play is always better than a dominant center. They all came to Dixie from one coast to the other to accomplish one goal: win basketball games. That they did, winning almost 60 games and losing only six over two seasons. Although they all gathered at Dixie to dazzle e dunks and trifectas, they will us with be going their separate ways next season to join Division I programs. -- Rebels leading scorer and rebounder Faron Hand, who averaged 18.1 points and nine rebounds per game, will be rejoining his old teammates Ethan O'Bryant and Jimmy Moore at University of Nevada, Reno. -- Rebel shooting guard Curtis Porter from Richmond, Calif., is heading to Tennessee Tech where he will bring his 14 ppg. and five rpg. -- Rasul Salahuddin, who averaged 9.9 ppg. and 4.1 rpg., will be attending Long Beach State after giving UNR serious consideration. -- Guard Troy Brewer from Hobbs, N.M., will be close to home after Sprewell and Co. to come series and finish it back and tie the out in Phoenix, a place they havent won in 20 tries. A quick random blast.: Michael Moorer is perhaps the alley-oop- worst heavyweight next to Busier Douglas to wear the heavyweight hardware. Evander Holyfield did not deserve to lose, he fought well enough to retain his title.
