Show Volume XIX - Number 7 January Dixie College, St. George, Utah 84770 31, 1986 A Look To the Future of The Dixie Center Does anyone know what all the construction just north of Hansen Stadium is for? Its the Dixie Center under construction. The proposed completion date is September, 1986. This monstrosity, named the Dixie Center, is designed to facilitate community events and provide more recreation and learning accomodations. Seating capacities include 5100 seats in the special events arena, 2100 seats in the auditorium, and 1200 seats available for banquet seating, the Dixie Center has also combined a natatorium containing a swimming pool and classrooms. A number of significant donations have been coming through. Tony Burns, President of Ryder Systems (P.I.E.), has shown his generosity by giving over $600,000 worth of pro-perto the Dixie Center. 'a h i s ' vh , Solid Oak podium donated by sophomore class The Sophomore Class has donated a brand new $1600.00 speakers podium for the Sun Room in the Student Union Building. According to Doug Jones, Class President, Sophomore the money was raised by the Sophomore Class which sponsored the Christmas Ball and a stomp held in late October. The podium was built in Logan, Utah by Nielson Custom Cabinets. It is made of solid oak, stained with a dark walnut stain, and coated with a lacquer finish. It also features a moveable microphone and a $400.00 sound system.
