Young vp: The Dixie College Theatre production of MY FAIR LADY, the most enchanting of all Cinderella stories, is in rehearsal for performances scheduled February 14 through 18, at the Dixie College Fine Arts Center Theatre. The Cinderella Story begins with the encounter of Professor Henry Higgins, played by Phil Theobald, and Eliza Doolittle, played by Nikki Bredsquard, outside the Royal Opera House in London. Eliza is selling violets, and Higgins is out on his endless quest for new varieties of Londons speech patterns. A handsome young aristocrat, Freddy Eynsford Hill, played by Randall Maxfield, upsets Elizas flower cart and is attracted to her instantly. Colonel Pickering, played by Duane Stephens, a linguistic expert, too, comes to stay with Higgins at his flat where Eliza comes to be instructed in proper English speech, so that she may transform herself into a flower shop lady. Accepting a challenge from Pickering, Higgins determines to change Eliza into a consort for a Beverly J. Houston Mary L. Isolampi Alex Jensen Richard P. Jensen Gary Dean Justis Karen C. Eliza meets one test after another in her efforts to become a lady, but she finds herself falling in love with Higgins. Arguments, happy moments of triumph, and moments of despair, alternate until Eliza finds herself. The large cast of students and townspeople involved in MY FAIR LADY also are preparing the beautiful musical score, including I Could Have Danced All Night, Ive Grown Accustomed To Her Face, On The Streeet Where You Live, and other hit songs from this great musical extravaganza. Choreography numbers center around the beautiful Embassy Waltz and the happy Get Me To The Church On Time and With A Little Bit of Luck. Tickets for MY FAIR LADY will be available beginning February 1st at the Dixie College Fine Arts Center Box Office. Dixie College students are admitted with activity cards but may pick up tickets in advance. go-luc- |
