Two oustanding religioius works for orchestra and chorus will be featured: Vivaldis Gloria, and The Seven Last Words, by Heinrich Schultz. The Gloria, a cantata mass, was written to commemorate the marriage of King Louis XIV of France to Marie de Medici of Spain, and is divided into 12 separate and distinct sections for orchestra, chorus and soloists. Vivaldi, a contemporary of both George Frederick Handel and Johan Sebastian Bach, was a writer of great relicious and secular music as well. Heinrich Schutz, also an earlyh German Baroque composer, predates back and according to Dr. Ronald Garner, director of the Southwest Symphony, represents perhaps the greatest of the early Baroque composers. The $19,000 project, being financed through a donation by O.C. Tanner, of Salt Lake City, has been architecturally designed so as to compliment the local ecology. The design, construction and installation of the sign has been done by Young Electric Sign Company, of Salt Lake City and St. George, Mike Record, the local manager. The additional projects at the amphitheatre include metal folding seating for 500 persons, a projection and lighting booth, road grading, with a chip and seal coat and an orchestra shell and projection screen for the multimedia production, now under preparation through Bonneville international, of Sale Lake SUNDAYS St. George ST.
